| HBO's series Rome Who watches HBO's Rome? I'm a big fan of many of HBO's origanal series such as Sopranos,Six Feet Under,Deadwood,Curb Your Enthusiasm,Carnivale and many more. I enjoy the new series Rome but am confused about one thing. Why do Romans have a British accent? I could've sworn Rome was in Italy! ((* *))NHPH |

| Simple- because the Romans were highfalootin', and there's nothing highfalootin' about an Eye-talian accent.

| "Rome" is a joint venture between the BBC and HBO. The president of HBO Films, Coliin Callendar is a Brit. Last I heard he was up to be Knighted. HBO has a history of hiring Brittish stage actors for their adapted plays and whatnot. The gentleman who played Maj. Winters in "Band of Brothers" (Ron Livingston) is a Brit for example. If you were an "OZ" Fan you might be suprised to find out that the man who played the Black Muslim Leader, Karim Said (Eaman Walker) is a Brit as well.

| rome I do not know why but in most roman movies the british accent is standard for romans. I have noticed this several times. It may that since the roman empire occupied england for quite some time it is considered aceptable. Well that and the british obsession with the classics.
