loose granular on top of manmade hardpack

this night trip to blue mountain had two purposes, get my first few thousand feet of vertical for the season and teach a buddy to ski. it was opening day so there were really only 3 trails open with about 800 feet of vertical. overall it was well worth the $13 lift ticket and hour and half drive from philadelphia. if anyone from the area is headed up that way they were blowing snow like crazy so there should be alot more open by the end of this weekend

Welcome to the Boards Rick! It feels good to make those turns. How far off of I80 is Blue Mountain? How did your friend like skiing?
