But what was your first pair of skis or snowboard?

The first pair of skis I owned (well, my parents purchased for me) were Hart Mercurys (white) with Cubco bindings. 150 length

My first pair of skis were Northlands with cable bindings and lace up boots. The next year they were up graded to step in Dover bindings. This would have been around 1970 .Look how far they have come!! By the way I still have 2 Snurfers, my daughter and I take them out every once in a while

Still on my first pair...Atomic C8 170s. May have gone too long for a newbie, but it sure beats rentals.

My first pair of skis was a pair of Atomics, but I don't remember the model. That was back in the mid 80's. Broke them when I got them caught under the lift.

My first snow board (aside from the snurfer I used on a local hill as a kid) is a 5150. I'm still riding it today.

In the summer of 1994, I bought my first pair of skis - the cheapest Elans (190 cm) I could find with Salomon Quad bindings and $99 Alpina boots.

My original set-up as well, but I rented each season until I was older (started skiing when I was 4). The first equipment I owned:

Spaulding Siderals with Marker bindings and Caber boots.

Hummer skis (yellow with orange stripes-pretty) with ancient Tyrolia bindings (runaway straps) and not even sure what I had for boots. Roughly '81 or '82...

When I was really little I had these plastic yellow skis with a sort of giraffe pattern and ankle straps. First real pair - mid 80's Olin race skis, unk length, bindings. Hot Pink and turqoise. My first day on them it was 10 below, don't remember the resort (had a leprauchan? as their logo). Just went screaming straight down the sheets of ice. One of the peak experiences of my childhood.
