Waterville Valley 12/22

Date(s) Skied: December 22

Resort or Ski Area: Waterville Valley

Conditions:Groomed Packed Powder Some ungroomed

Trip Report:Nice day on the mountain. Temps were in the single digits and low teens with high clouds. Lines no longer than a dozen at the quads ski on Sunnyside and High Country.

Run of the day: Either Gema or Tyler Too to Periphery. Both were groomed nicely and and lonely for good maching. If you like it natural Ciao had some nice ungroomed packed powder and solitude to offer. High Country had Scramble (?) open great short run snow was perfect but it is a long cold ride for 400 ft. I always do it once per visit for the view if the vis is OK.

Not so good; White caps (under the quad) I don't get it. This run was in OK shape, a little skied off and it had to have at least half of the skiers and riders on the mountain crowding on to it. One run was plenty.

Also there was some confusion with the lifties scanning passes. I was in line behind ten people and three or four chairs were going up empty on a few laps I took. No big deal today, I needed the break anyway, but if that's going on next week it could be a problem.
