| Nassahegan, CT: 8/14 | Mohawk Mountain - 12/23/2005 (Night) Date(s) Skied: Friday, 12/23/2005 - 7:30 pm - 10:10 pm Resort or Ski Area: Mohawk Mountain, Cornwall, Connecticut Conditions: LGR on machine groomed base. Warm in the mid 30's, light drizzle on and off, no wind. Trip Report: Hit Mohawk tonight for a little night skiing session. I've only skied there once, about 9 years ago with my then girlfriend (now wife). I was looking forward to checking it out again. I noticed the drizzle as soon as I clicked into my skis, but it never really got heavy at all. By 9 pm, it was just about over. I pretty much stuck to the Boulder Summit Triple and took most of my runs down Wildwood which is the steepest run on the mountain. Overall, the mountain seemed a bit flat to me. I think Sundown is a bit more challenging, but has less runs. I also hit Timber and Arrowhead as well as one ride on the Mohawk Chair to ski Mohawk. Conditions were the same all over the mountain; edgeable machine made base with LGR piles to play in on the sides of the trails. Pretty uneventful evening, but it gave me a chance to work on technique a bit. Nice little hill and will be a great learning area for my daughter in the years to come. |
