Morning: 1" of snow and coming on strong.
Afternoon: Change over to sleet and very low vis, foggy and wet.

Very crowded, some long lift lines and got very icy near the end of the day, to the point a few spots were very dangerous. I heard the ambulance at least once. All said and done the snow was soft and it was a good time. Tons of soft bumps everywhere if you didn't mind the vis.

Not quite sure what the weekend weather has in store. You can never really tell so I'm staying open minded.

that's a great shot. the only photo any one ever took of me when i raced was at cannon. i asked a team mate to take a picture of me using my camera. i had just hooked a tip on a gate and got tossed down the hill. the pic was me covered in snow after getting up from the fall, beautiful.

Thanks, I wish that was me. I've never raced. Just to remove any confusion, if any. It's not me, I'm behind the camera.

well then, you take a great action picture then! i've tried action pictures of people skiing and i usually "miss" the moment i'm trying to capture.

It helps to use a digital camera that shoots 8 frames per second like my Canon EOS 1D. Digital is more forgiving and you get feedback on your aperature/shutter speeds. Plus, I really like the levels histogram display on my camera for checking the light you're getting. And digital it doesn't hurt the environment. My camera cost about $5k new for just the body. I just got a new 300mm image stablized telephoto lens and it seems to be working for what I need. I'm considering trading up for the pro fixed 2.8f 70-200mm.

For action photograhy, one major problem with most lower cost digital cameras, although they now take a great high resolution photograph just as good and sometimes better, are typically slower and there is sometimes a pause or delay in the shutter from pressing the button.

Then again as I've found out, sometimes it doesn't matter how much you've spent on your camera or how fast it is. You can get some great shots with a disposeable with enough knowledge of light and a good eye for composition. Luck helps too.

I have an Elan IIe, the film kind and a couple consumer lenses.

I've also got a Canon point and shoot, but I am eyeing one of those new Canon Rebels. ~$1K.. I am thinking they might drop a bit more over the next few months. I'm tempted.

I'll keep hacking away. Like skiing, it's a never ending journey to improve.

I've been tempted to get a Canon Rebel for the new CMOS 6million megapixel sensor as a backup camera. 2-3fps, not a bad deal but for another grand might as well get the more sturdy D10 body.
