Great Wolf Lodge indoor water park

My son and I visited Great Wolf Lodge water park in Scotrun Pennsylania last weekend. This is a new indoor water park resort that opened in the poconos last November 2005. We had tried to get into this place back in January when we where skiing in the Poconos, but the place was a mob scene complete with people and totally booked up.

The resort is nice with 84F water temperature year round and features a wave pool, two swimming pools, two body slides, a water roller coaster and four tube rides. Rates are really expensive and we paid a "reduced" rate of $274 a night, which I found to be on the high side. In winter $400-$500 a night is the common price I am told.

What about just going for the day? Or staying in a place away from the park. looks like fun for the kids.

They do not allow guests that are not checked into their hotel to use the water park. This if what the "offical" position of the hotel is, I have heard that during the summer and other slow times, they will allow walk in customers to use the park without booking a room for the night. Honestly though, who wants to go to an indoor water park during the summer?

Actually they have a really good climate control system and the water is treated with salt, which makes for slightly sticky skin, but does not have a chlorine odor.

I don't see why this place is even up for discussion here. The prices are ridiculous for a less then mediocre water park. In the winter, if your there, your not skiing. In the summer, hell there are a million other water parks ten times better.

Check out Splish Splash in Riverhead, NY. #5 Water park in the country. Adult admission is $31 and children are $22 (under 3 is free). There are also many reasonable hotels in the area for those of you not from Long Island. Ive gone there many times and never get bored of it. If you go, I dare you to go on cliffdiver. As far as my opinion on it, one mega wedgie per lifetime for me.

People could say the same thing if we had indoor skiing, which would probably be very expensive.

Actually there are reasons to visit an indoor water park, such as from late April to late May and from early September to late October, when outdoor water parks are not yet opened and skiing is ended or not yet started for the season.

The place is expensive, I agree 100%, but the place is packed 9 months out of the year and does a thriving business. The owners are actually a chain of indoor water parks in the U.S and Canada. The indoor water roler coaster was actually alot of fun,and the 84F water temperature was perfect for me.

Splash Lagoon in Erie is the only other indoor water park we have been to, and it is much less expensive and more fun, plus they allow walk in customers to use the waterpark for $24 a day. The clientile is also much more friendly.

I have been to Splish Splash about 6-8 times and it's nice. I was at Whale's Tail water park in New Hampshire last August, it was fun but brrrrrrrrrrrr.
