We had runs going through neighbor's yards in our little suburb.
This was in Nashua NH, the Lancashire Heights neighborhood. Shadwell, Tennyson, Shelley, Browning, and Bicentennial Roads all have a good pitch. We would start up on Peele Road and come down close to Old Maid's Brook.
If not there, we were at Roby Park, Greenmeadow Golf Course or Nashua Country Club.

Nashua uses a snow making machine to make a sliding area up by sky meadow in the same area in weak snow winters. I live near the Nashua country club. I see x-country skiers and dare devil sliders all winter long. Maybe I'll see you at the Sunset Grill or other establishment sometime.

Everytime there's a big dump, I make as big of a mound as I can and ski down. Last year I built one that was about 12 feet tall against the side of the garage. Hopefully this year I will be out skiing instead of being at home making my own hill.

I have a really steep hill in my backyard, maybe a black slope. If only I could find a cheap ropetow... anyone know of where I could get one?

I just logged my first backyard vertical. I did 4 runs that couldn't have been more than 400 vertical feet combined. Nice soft snow with a little crust on top. If I made more than 3 turns per run I'd be surprised. The slope wouldn't be more than a novice hill but had a few scattered large trees to make it interesting. This spring I plan on thinning out 6 or 7 scrubby looking hedges that seemed to be in the way every time I wanted to make a turn. There is also a little narrow stretch a bit higher than I was dropping in that could be a good run way for getting up some speed. i just couldn't get enough speed going in the pow pow to make it fun.

I was actually considering putting a rope tow in my back yard up the 15 acres of hill/partial hill we have.

WOW! can't belive you unbuired this thread... but I'll add my 2 cents

I once tore up a sump next to my house w/ about 5 ft of vert, sometimes snow makes me giddy I guess. Am I the only flatlander who's thought of poaching a few runs on the local landfill?

Oh yeah! while living in VT me and my bro got first tracks on about 25 ft of vert near the local reservoir... the last run down along the side of the road was pretty hairy

Ah, the power of a keyword search.

I made my fine shoot vid of the backyard fun. But without any speed the turns looked really crappy since I was sinking in the snow.
