| Jiminy Peak 2/10/04 Night 4/10/04 Night 7:00 - 10:00 Jiminy Peak Hardpack with 2 - 4" of manmade on top mixed with some of Mother Nature's. Some glazed hardpack spots. The conditions were fine despite the rain from last Friday. F A S T! The crust on the upper mountain was a bit thicker and hence bullet-proof. Trails were in good condition and I was usually not skiing on the sides to get some snow. Very carvable except in a few spots where I skidded. Best trail of the night was Ace Of Spades that was groomed from edge to edge, but made for the best carving of the night. No glazed spots at all! Grand Slam had nearly the same conditions, but with more manmade and was very good. Upper Fox was getting sketchy as was North Glade in spots. Did I mention the skiing was fast? The weather was unusually calm at the summit for Jiminy from about 7 – 8. It was nice enough to stop at the "snowboarder's circle" on West Way which is just below the top of the Triple Chair (A on the map). Then it began to snow; heavy enough to leave 1/2 - 3/4" of fresh. Then the wind kicked in with the snow and by 9:15 or so the snow tapered off and the wind died down. All in all a very nice night of skiing. Jimme Side note- Rode lift with a guy who claimed to be a Jiminy lift-op. When I asked about the stoppage on Saturday he said "Man that was the day from Hell. What happened is that one of the Proximity Sensor wires broke and that stopped the lift. We called Colorado, Utah and VTEC before one of us finally noticed the broken wire." |
