| I do have a friend like this. His critical nature is the main reason why we don't hang as much as we used to. Everyone matures at a different rate. On the lift I always look for people ripping down the hill or showing great control. I tend to be a visual learner. I've yet to meet any AZers but this will be the year. I'm going to watch your technique like a hawk and ask a ton of questions. See ya'll at Sundown! |

| Nice to see others from Jersey, I live right on the border-line of andover and sparta (the andover side). Mountain Creek is not the best, but you can't beat going up for some night skiing when the place is essentially empty. |

| [quote=highpeaksdrifter;103661a typical comment would be, “I don’t think he’s that good, he’s sitting back on some turns”.[/QUOTE] I've met more then one high-ranking PSIA instructor who is like that. (There was a period where I taught, so I had the opportunity to meet more then my share). They are just incapable of saying something nice. I got to the point with one of them that I took the assumption that if he didn't mention something (i.e., hand position for instance) then it must have been "good enough". i.e., the compliment was him not saying something. And that was my boss on the mountain! Now I've never ridden a chairlift with an instructor who belittled somebody below; I can't really see any point or reason in doing that, other then insecurity. But in clinics? They, at times, were just head-shaking experiences of "what does it take to please this guy???".

| I know that guy. Thats me. "Wow, look at him/her, they look good but...." And I agree with the insecure comment because the but is usually one of my own personal shortfalls.
