Forerunner: The Most Righteous Shop on the Planet

In honesty though, I can make Taos/Angle Fire/Red River in 10 1/2 hours with the timezone change, and Taos is a great mountain (particularly for bumpers). The San Juans are a little further but are only about 12 hours away and those are superb mountains. Holy crap, that's rad!!! I want one...

Forerunner: The Most Righteous Shop on the Planet

That's the truth. So many other stores either wouldn't've given a Texan on the phone the time of day, or would've talked down to me. You should. It's a great place. If nothing else, you can rent a nice set of bump skis for spring Superstar. I agree, and that was a big reason I decided to...

    Skiing the moguls

This is a great drill that does two other things: 1) forces you to move at a slow, steady, controlled pace (like jack97 suggested), 2) shows you that you can stop anywhere, anytime with good form, which goes a long way psychologically towards letting you be comfortable with speed. I'm sure it's...

The etiquette of passing (on skis)

Yeah, I think those two guys should've been forever-banned from that mountain. Or, those two guys and that lady.... The more I see that video, the more I'm starting to suspect it was all staged; an elaborate hoax for the internets. Something about the way the camera starts on the lady, then...

    Skiing the moguls

This is interesting. Being TX-based, I'm always interested in reading material to improve my game and maximize my quality time on the snow. DiPiro's book really resonated with me, how closely does The Invincible Mogul Skier track with Everything the Instructors Never...? Not that I'm...

    Skiing the moguls

If the bumps are very small and the run very un-steep, I could see just blasting through them with fat skis, otherwise... I definitely turn on every bump. And if the moguls are big enough or spaced out a lot I like to cut an extra turn on the backside of a bump or in the wide trough...

All Mountain Skis That Are Great In Moguls

I thought I'd go ahead and resurrect this thread with a final post, just to let any unfortunate soul who gives a crap know how the story ended. I did a ton of research, got a ton of great information from a ton of knowledgeable and wise folks, did a ton of serious thinking, and ignored every...

Forerunner: The Most Righteous Shop on the Planet

This kinda post probably doesn't usually deserve it's own thread, but whatever. I bought a pair of skis from the Forerunner Shop in Killington, VT. Now, I have bought a number of things in my time, but this was easily, without a doubt, bar none, the best experience exchanging currency for...

All Mountain Skis That Are Great In Moguls

Great analysis, by the way. Mogul skiers are really good about popping out of their skis and holding them up vertically immediately after their run before the camera leaves them. Seems like most of them fell right within the range you noted. That'd be great. I'll see what I can get on this...

Want to Buy WTB: Mogul/bump/freestyle skis (used)

Please, don't make me buy these.

All Mountain Skis That Are Great In Moguls

After taking in all yalls input, doing a little research, and achieving a level of overthinking that astonished even myself, I'm looking for a ski that is: -Mid-waist width (78-92mm) -Mild tip (or tip & tail) rocker -Cambered underfoot -Long (>19m) turning radius -Soft to moderate flex in the...

Want to Buy WTB: Mogul/bump/freestyle skis (used)

Come on... you know mogul skiing is just soooo 90s. Everybody is either into gettin' GNAR-POW or that Ski Ballet you park rats are doing these days, with your greasy noses and poppin' air. I can help you out: just give me those horribly uncool skinny straight things you've got collecting dust in...
