Was thinking about going skiing this weekend but weather looks too warm.

I am hitting sugarbush on saturday, and I think it will be fine, especially on the upper 2/3 of the mountain. Its fun to read the Sugarbush snow/weather report, laugh at it, and then look at the Mad River Glen report to see what is actually going on. Bush: Excellent base building conditions, a...

    Trails with absurd difficulty ratings

I came in this thread to mention Big Emma - I don't know of any other green trails with an airable headwall! (memory is 10 years old on that one, I may be talking about a section that intersects Barry Barry Steep and technically not part of Big Emma). Snowbird in general did not seem inflated...

    Lifties and their Music!

Cannonball Quad more often than not is cranking 'Will the Circle Be Unbroken?' by the nitty gritty dirt band - love hearing Doc Watson flatpick me into a smile as I begin what is usually percieved as the coldest 5 minutes of my life. God I love Cannon. Also, the two times I have been at MRG...

"Where in God's name is the LODGE!?!"

^ see that is interesting to me, makes me think I either just went to the wrong base area or something. To clarify more, this is also an aesthetics thing. I was just quite surprised by the base area being as built up as it was, commercial, whatever it is, it struck me as very weird, and I...

"Where in God's name is the LODGE!?!"

Its not really that it's a pain to physically walk in them as much as that most good bootfitters would advise against walking more than a few steps in a parking lot on your $500 ski boots.. Makes me cringe when I see it.

"Where in God's name is the LODGE!?!"

I'm sorry you had all that happen to your family, thats ridiculous really. I won't begin to fear my stuff getting stolen until it actually is, I guess. Maybe I'll split my skis up when I go in for lunch. I've always been of the mind that there is much more valuable equipment on the rack than...

"Where in God's name is the LODGE!?!"

Just has a weird feeling for me...like Disney World when you're expecting a hiking trip. Also, isn't it awful to walk on pavement in your ski boots?

"Where in God's name is the LODGE!?!"

Hi All, I recently went on a business trip out to Boulder in March and was fortunate enough to snag a few days at Copper Mountain while I was out there. While the terrain was excellent despite the low snowfall (love that Spaulding Bowl!), I got a REALLY bad commercialized vibe from the whole...

Should I Move my Mount Forward?

Thanks guys; I probably will bring them up to the recommended line, or at most +1 from that, and see what happens.

Should I Move my Mount Forward?

Additionally riverc0il, your blog kicks ass.

Should I Move my Mount Forward?

Thanks for the advice riverc0il and WWF - regardless of where my feet are on the ski, I am definitely going to get better at skiing in the woods until I break down from old age! Basically, I went through some tight spots in Paradise at MRG and felt a bit sketchy at times (granted, that place...

Should I Move my Mount Forward?

Thanks for your post Snowmonster! Sorry for the ambiguity; I think "Team" corresponds to "Boot Center", or "Recommended", and not "True Center". Based on your assesment, I think I am going to remount them about halfway between the true center and recommended lines. I am willing to bet this is...

Should I Move my Mount Forward?

Hi All, Question for the gear people! I have been reading a lot of conflicting opinions about mount point and the effect it has on the ski. This is my issue: I just got a whole new rig this year, and got the Atomic Theory 2012 skis. In most conditions I absolutely love them. However, I am...

Post your Top 10 favorite trails / runs / trees in the Northeast..

Cool stuff! Reminds me of some of the off map stuff at MRG toward the top of the mountain. Definitely have to check out Jay Peak next season.
