    Call to Free Heelers

No work needed. It's play. All I'm saying is p-turns are OK too (and the experts back me up).

    Call to Free Heelers

In my dreams! It's easier in soft spring bumps but in general I can't link more than five or six tele turns in bumps (or trees) before reverting to parallel. I can and do tele turn everything else - steeps, ice, crud, groomers (!) - but bumps kill me. And I've always been mystified by the...

    Call to Free Heelers

Correct - My (fat) feet fit just about the same in Garmont 75mm boots (Ener-G) and Scarpa NTN boots (TX). My kids have skinny feet like their mom and wore Scarpa 75mm boots and fit better in Garmont NTN. Go figure. (But you can fudge it a little with moldable linings.)

    Call to Free Heelers

Avoid the BCX675 style boots and stick with a modern hardshell Scarpa, Garmont (Scott), or BD 75mm boot 3- or 4-buckle boot.. Should be able to find good deals over the summer and as folks switch to NTN. The free boots that are too small - is this based on a shell fit or with liners? If with...

    Call to Free Heelers

Quoted for truth. Would have agreed before switching over to NTN. Now, IMHO p-turn on NTN (blue springs set at 2 or 3) is quite near. Not 100% but remarkably more solid than any 75mm binding I've skied. And to the OP - hope you enjoy the learning process and stick with it, it's a lot of...

    Bike suggestions please

+1 for clip-on aero bars on a road bike that fits you properly, for triathlon and training purposes. These days the best price / performance choice, by far, is aluminum. andyzee is correct, it can have a harsh ride relative to carbon or steel, but that's a function of several factors well...

Alpine Touring Ski for East Coast Backcountry

I've been on new Atomic Drifters for a couple of weeks now, just inbounds, and have to say: WOW. Carves, holds an edge, floaty in deep and soft, really nice. Hope you enjoy them too. They're a bit on the heavy side for my lazy butt so the narrower/lighter K2 is a good complement especially if...

    Pico/Magic this Weekend (2/23 & 2/24)

I skied last weekend Sat/Sun at Pico, Mon at Magic. I think they've both picked up a little since then, which they both needed badly. jrmagic is on the money for Magic - snowmaking trails were great, Talisman in particular skied great, with the best coverage I've ever seen there. All groomed...

    NTN Bindings

To be clear, I haven't yet drunk the kool-aid; like David M, I'm all set up on 75mm gear for now. And I'm satisfied with the releasable 75mm bindings. Was on CRBs several years, then switched over to 7tm. But I found a pair of reasonably priced NTN boots last summer so I bought 'em for an AT...

    NTN Bindings

That's a Scarpa TX Pro I think - full rundown on this and other NTN boots here: http://www.newtelemarkguide.com/wiki/NTN_Boots . And much more NTN info elsewhere on that site, and at the motherlode for tele info: http://www.telemarktalk.com/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=1 Bottom line on your specific...

The Lady gap - Blue Plateau

Lemme know if any questions on the tele front. If you get into it, there's a ton of info on telemarktips.com but especially in the summer a very poor signal-to-noise ratio. Good info here http://www.amazon.com/Free-Heel-Skiing-Techniques-Conditions-Mountaineers/dp/0898867754/ref=pd_sim_b_2...
