    Winni River Days 2023

https://facebook.com/events/s/winni-river-days/266670069190680/ What up AZ? If you are looking for something fun to do this weekend, you should come out to Winni River Days, a whitewater festival in downtown Franklin, NH now in its 5th year. The main drag, where it crosses the Winnipesaukee...

Northern New England ski area locusts and their subspecies

Not saying entitled new kids in town are not funny, because they definitely are. Shit, I live in a college town……1000 new 18 year olds move in every August.

Northern New England ski area locusts and their subspecies

I think you’re overthinking it. You get mail there? Pay bills and rent or motgage there? Buy groceries there? Put a kid through a school system there? You’re a local, bro.

    Cannon Lover's Thread

Skied Thursday. Real soft down low, still scratchy up top. With no zoomer I wound up doing tram laps…..which I never do normally. Avy was trail o the day. Can’t remember going into Presi Week with so little snow.

    The kid thread

I’m at the tail end of this process, with young adult children. I think, I hope, I’ve created a couple life long skiers. Good luck and have fun y’all. Savor the small moments and think like a kid.

Northern New England ski area locusts and their subspecies

Nomenclature Local: someone who lives in a certain locus. Doesn’t really matter when you came along, if you are not a visitor, not a transient, you are a local. In ski towns “Long time locals” hate the fact that some kid from the flatlands who just moved here last summer and may not even come...

    Cannon Lover's Thread

I’d like to see it stay a tram if possible, just for it’s historical and unique value (or in spite of the expense I guess?). I also would be a fan of a surface lift (probably too much cross traffic) or small chairlift returning to ~ the banshee lift line. And more of a real ski lodge facility...

    Cannon Lover's Thread

This is a friendly PSA for Cannon midweek skiers: not only are there some of the large English group lessons this week but tomorrow is Plymouth State Ski Day. If you didn’t know, now you do.

    High Priced Lift Tickets

I skied for free at Veterans Memorial Recreation Area in Franklin NH on Saturday. It was great. Yeah it’s only 230’ vertical, but it was laid back, friendly, sunny, soft. Vehicle was parked 150’ from the lodge and 200’ from the T bar.

    Cannon Lover's Thread

Hey! This thread is for lovers only! Just kidding! I’m sure you’ll have to go to the Peabody base area…..windows at the base of NotchView Lodge to get your pass. Definitely the only area with anything resembling full service ski area base. The others are outposts for loners, burnouts and...

    Cannon Lover's Thread

Parked at the tram today for the first time in a few years…..not being able to park at Zoomer the last week has me appreciating the fact that Cannon actually has 4 separate locations (peabody, mitt, zoomer, tram base) to start your day from…..or more if you park brookside and start at tucker...

Y’all ever ski Tenney? Anyhoo, bummer about Zoomer, as I do love a good foot rest every now and then.

Throwing Bud Light cans onto ski slopes from the ski lift

....and cigarette butts, and empty fireball nippers, and spent juul pods. Littering is a primal form of self expression for people who’s worldviews are inchoate, ignorant, arrogant, sociopathic, solipsistic and/or nihilistic.

    Tenney

No. It appeared that maybe there was an attempt and a resulting glacier.

    Towns near Stratton or Mt.Snow

No advice for original question but Lincoln, NH is “real town” with Price Chopper, restaurants, shops, super quick access to Loon and decent to Cannon.
