Cool to see these small places still kickin it.
I was skiing with Kleetus at Jay a few years ago and I fell into one. Not even a ton of fresh snow. They're out there for sure.
It's been pretty cold, is your heat on higher than average?
What is the condition of your shingles? If you're going to re shingle soon, make sure to use ice and water shield the first 4 feet of your roof. This will help tremendously, but it needs to be done...
I followed one set of tracks left because it looked pretty untouched and a little more open, and it was for a few yards then it thickened right back up. It was extremely challenging but I enjoyed it....
Yeah I took that line left! Very technical run. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Wish it wasn't a race day though, I can only handle so many chairs with high schoolers.
I found thin cover in every bit of woods I went into. I know I didn't hit them all, but I think I hit the best spots according to your map. I got into areas of knee deep stuff as well. It was pretty...
I think these were the woods off UMass. Very comparable to the trees left of the Red Chair at Magic, as Tuna said.
I was there today, definitely some good terrain in the trees. I used Tuna's map from the other Beast trip report. # 5 glades (off Umass?) are pretty steep and require some technical skiing. VERY thin...
Gore in the 'Dacks handles the crowds very well. You can basically almost ski on most lifts, just stay away from the Gondola.
On my way!
Might check out this place today. Anyone know how much snow they got in the last storm?
Similar situation last year when I went. Still had a blast.
That's been the case this season
What is mount Sunapee all about?
Not all that familiar with Boston area skiing yet, is Crotched a nice place on a fresh snow day? It wouldn't be out of the question to go to Maine either.
What is the BEST option for Wednesday coming from Boston ? Haven't got out much this season and would like to make the best of this one.
Easily 24" here in southeastern Mass.
At least a foot in Southeastern Mass. Mail boxes are close to being covered from the drifts.
If Boston is still a mess on Wednesday and I can't get to work then Magic is my plan.
The travel ban is going to really screw up everything. Is there any option for tomorrow coming from the Boston area?
Would driving to Cannon tonight be a bust with winds tomorrow during the storm?
Thanks for the report. I'm leaning toward Cannon anyway. I loved the vibe of the place, reminds me of Gore which I miss incredibly.
That's part of my problem. I'm hearing mix precip in the Whites tomorrow but mostly afternoon. Then I heard rain before noon. Doesn't seem like anyone know what's going to happen.
