    What's good in the NEK

I'm going up to the Northeast Kingdom this weekend (staying near Burke). I was originally supposed to go biking at Kingdom Trails, but that fell through so I will now be hiking. What are some good hikes in the area? I am preferably looking for rather long day hikes.

    Cyclists Get No Respect

http://laist.com/2007/09/24/hollywood_bus_d.php Have any of you had a similar experience where a driver failed to recognize you as a vehicle? Almost anyone that has ever ridden on busy streets has had some close encounters. If so did you actually do anything about it?

    Trainer Recommendations

I am looking into possible getting a trainer (probably a fluid one) so that I can stay in cycling shape this winter. Does anyone have any experience with any particular models and what would you recommend? There is a very wide price range and I'm really not sure what the difference between the...

Riders that you don't want in your Group

So this is a bit of a rant about some particular group riders. I was on the Thursday night fitness ride last night, which is a fairly aggressive group ride but is not race training. For reference, I was in the 20 mph group. There were a couple of people in my group that would peel off the front...

    North Shore Overpriced

The North Shore just got voted the #1 overpriced area in America. http://www.boston.com/business/ticker/2006/07/it_takes_lots_o.html Massachusetts is really representing on that list (not a good thing). Cambridge and Boston also made the list.

    Ted Williams Tunnel

Did anyone else see something like this coming? With all of the problems with the tunnels it seems like it was almost inevitable. http://www.boston.com/news/traffic/bigdig/articles/2006/07/11/ceiling_tumbles_in_tunnel_in_boston/

    Rubbers

I'm talking about tires. Pull your mind out of the gutter. What tires are you using on your bikes? For my mountain bike I have the Kenda Nevegal Stick-E. I have unfortunately only been out once on the bike so far so I can't really comment on them yet. I have heard that they grip really well...

    Ski Resort Info

I was browsing the ski resort info and was looking at Stowe today. I noticed that the stats say no double diamonds - that's incorrect. Liftline, Goat, Starr, Lookout and National. That is 5/48 = 10.5%. Just thought I would give you the heads up.

    1000

Congrats to Andyzee for hitting 1000 posts (he's at 999 now, but it's inevitable) On a side note where has Brett gone? Does he think he can just leave us when his season ends?

    Grunge!!!!

Since we have all of the music threads going, I decided to dedicate one to my favorite - Grunge. Some of the bands have been touched in the hard rock thread, but as Riverc0il (I think it was him) pointed out, Grunge is its own category all together. What are you favorite bands/albums from back...

What centuries do you plan on doing this spring/summer/fall?

Okay so here are the centuries that I plan on doing this season. I hope to see some of you guys out there for them. May 21 - CRW Spring Century (http://www.crw.org/SpringCentury.htm). This one starts in Wakefield, MA and winds through parts of MA and southern NH. July 22 - Maine Lobster Ride...

    Green

I noticed that the board has moved to the green summer color scheme. Personally, I think it is a little early for it. It's always a sad day when it moves to the summer colors.

    College + 1 Pass

Today seems to be a big day for talk about the Bush here at AZ and I'm going to continue the theme here. So I was looking at the season pass page and I noticed that they have a college + 1 pass for next season (probably partly because of all my whining about how they have nothing for young...

    Sugarbush Trail Names

In one of the other posts we were throwing out trail names at the Bush and I was using all of the old names. I was wondering how many of you call the trails by their old names (Ripcord, Twist) instead of the new names (Sigi's Ripcord, Lixi's Twist). Also, I thought they changed Black Diamond to...

    May Century

Okay, so I had mentioned a while back in the "Great Road Biking Weather Thread" about doing a century in May. So far we have Charlie, Marc and I that want to do it. I figured I would create a seperate thread to make it a little more visible. Is anyone else up for it? It is Sunday, May 21 and you...

    Car mileage

I was just wondering how many miles a year people put on their cars between skiing, work, etc. This is my first year down in Mass and I'm on pace to put about 25k miles on my car, which seems like a ton to me.
