    Fixin Scoville

I would like to restore the original trail best as possible and look for some new offshoots to add some length. Got a couple of people interested for late in the week, but i might go in with a saw on Wednesday.

    Fixin Scoville

I had made plans to work on Scoville 2day but it is hella yucky and i gots no desire to do anytrhing but walk through it later on. I got tools and live about a 1/4 mile away so i got access to stuff including a backhoe (that might be pushin my luck). I was already contacted by Droc for a...

    Nass/Stone - 9/13

That's the "Home Depot" drop at the eastern most part of Stone on the right side across the road from the DJs....that drop was tits back in the day. The landing is all clapped out now and needs some work to be good again.

    Crankfire down?

Tried to go there a few times but can't get anything but an error page. Anybody else experience the same?

    Mtb: RAW - 8/4/09

I will be riding the Rez for the first time this year, might even do it backward to spice it up. Staying away from Nass until all this ticketing drama blows over...

    2009 Cannondale Rush 6 or Rize 4

Rushes are more XC race than a Rize....they are also 4" travel verses 5". They are not making the Rush in 2010 since they bumped the travel on the new Scalpels to 4" (but those are changing for 2011 anyway).....The new replacement for the Rush is the RZ 120. The newer rocker link makes the...

    Fork re-build project

So in short, you can get a rebuild for free.....but it will blow up gain. However, if you spend a $100, it will work. Gotta love Manitou.

    Middlesex 7/20/9

You should ride with the subset of group 1 that is led by this young kid named Greg who works PT at the shop.....did I mention he is a current pro XCer. Getting dusted doesn't even begin to describe how you feel when he passes you on a climb turns around, goes back down and comes up again to...

    Fork re-build project

Domains are tough to beat as far as durability and plushness. Super simple design that works...no uber complicated dampening. Fork goes up and down with just enough control to tune it. Now that Rock Shox is part of the whole SRAM/Avid/TruVativ empire, they really stand behind their stuff with...

    Fork re-build project

Manitou factory rebuilds go like this. "Hey, hows my fork doing that I sent in?" "Not too good, needs a lot of work...and we don't stock parts for anything over a week old..." "What can I do?" "We can offer you a leftover 08 @ $$...hows that sound?" "...guess I'll just do that then." You...

Items on your 'to do' list that mess with your head...

We wanted to build a little warm up drop thing close to where you park.....Ruel suggested that little hill and i built it. More people have gotten tossed on that thing thatn any feature in Nass. People either pull up to hard and loop out backwards or mistime the drop and land in an OTB nose...

Items on your 'to do' list that mess with your head...

FYI, the semi a-framed downhill Scoville drop across from the jug handle is called Ruel's Jewels.....that is home to many a Polish wheelie. You guys are welcome to ride the ultra top secret "Biggie Smalls" trails when it's finished in a few weeks. Multiple 3-5 footers with all sorts of bridges...

    FS pivot lubrication

Whatever you do, don't use WD 40 anywhere near the pivots....That stuff works like a degreaser and will wreak havok on the grease. I am pretty sure that all of the Treks made within the last 5-6 years use a form of a cartridge bearing. You can actually service a majority of these bearings, but...

    Fork re-build project

If it is still sticking you might have a bushing issue. Another possibilty is air entrapped in the dampening circuit....this sometime gives it a notchy feel.

    MTB - Tire & Slippage Question.. s...

Reason 1 - You buy 20k tires, you obviously get a huge discount....especially if a company makes a production over run or a tire with a cosmetic blem or slight defect in the formula..... Reason 2 - Most online parts places are nothing more than a steel building with a bunch of computers and...

    MTB - Tire & Slippage Question.. s...

I really don't care where people buy their tires, but don't claim that a shop raped you for $60 on a Nevegal. Please do some homework before pointing fingers. A shop that purchases that tire from a distributor like QBP is paying roughly $38 bucks for that tire without shipping....add in a...

When to get a new bike?

If you are loking for an MTB on the cheap that fits, Specialized offers Rockhopper 29ers with a 23" frame. Big wheels and big wheelbases are what you need and those things have both. That would fit you the best without breaking the bank and/or going custom. Plus 29ers use 700c wheels....so you...

    MTB - Tire & Slippage Question.. s...

I run 55-60 during the dry conditions, but i also want minimal rolling resistance and run 2.1 tires with micro knobs (Race Kings) I might go down to mid 40s if its slick, but if that's the case i will just wait til it drys out. If you don't have the skills yet look into a 2.3 with a wide open...
