    College Research Paper Survay

Did you really make it into college not knowing how to spell "survey"?

Bretton Woods or Wildcat on Friday 4/11?

It's a coin flip for me unless anyone can pass on some intelligence. BW is $29 but a bit farther drive (for me) Wildcat is $40. Thanks!

Cannon single day tickets - blows my mind

Two rebuttals: “Are you creepy looking or something? Never seen it take longer than 5min with a typical time of about 30sec.” Yes, I am creepy looking, but that’s beside the point. Why should any customer be inconvenienced for five minutes (and then spread the word about that...

Cannon single day tickets - blows my mind

Used to be a Cannon semi-regular for Tue/The 2-fers for many winters until the mid-2000s. The reasons I cut back on going are... 1) Two-fer deals not as much of a bargain when they stopped running the tram on weekdays. 2) The ungodly hassle I would get if I showed up by myself (or with an odd...

What is the proper way to store my skis?

During the season, I always leaned them against a wall vertically in my unheated garage after wiping them off with a towel after each use. Then I thought this might warp them (they sometimes go weeks between uses). Lately, I've thought of resting them flat on the cement floor in same garage...

    Sunapee 2/8/12

Brisk and bright, parking lot surprisingly 1/2 full before 9a and full by mid-morning (2-fer promo). Decently groomed cruisers with no bare spots (on what was open). Fast and fun. If your thing is venturing out of bounds and into the woods, forget it. Crowd thinned out noticeably around...

What trail / run in the Northeast could you reach the highest speeds on?

I'd agree on Avalanche at Cannon and was surprised it took 15 posts before someone mentioned it. That one sticks in my head as the first intimidating "point and shoot" trail I tried to gun in my formative years.

The definitive list of ski areas for old people

I'm 43 and spent too much time in my teens and 20's chasing friends down double-blacks, bumps, and into the woods when I really had no business being there. About ten years ago I wised up and began to embrace what I really like--long, fast cruisers. Give me Bretton Woods or Sunapee--where I...

Recommendation on men's waterproof bib pants that are just an outer shell

I'd like to switch over to bib ski ants this season (the full overall type), and if I'm going to spend decent money for a waterproof pair, I'd like a sort of shell that I can wear all thru the spring (and just layer up when it's cold). Anyone use a pair like this that they really like?

Sunapee on 4/7 exceeded my expectations

Some really good skiing at Sunapee on 4/7, especially the early part of the day when conditions were midwinter-ish frozen granular and hardpack with just enough bite to set an edge. (I did a lot of fast cruising, avoiding the bumps.) Things got a bit softer from noon onward, but very few bare...

Friday, April 8th - Where to go, any ticket deals?

Waterville is having another $1 day on Friday 4/8.

Waterville for $1 tix this Friday--will it be so mobbed it's not even worth going?

Anyone been to one of these "dollar days" in the past? I'm up for going skiing somewhere this Friday, but would rather pay $25 or $35 bucks to ski somewhere uncrowded rather than fork over a buck for the privilege of standing in lift lines to take runs on increasingly skied-off spring...

Please help: Why are my brand-new skis "peeling" after one use?!?!

My ski math doesn't include school vacation weeks--I surrender 'em to the masses and don't even think of going. In the same spirit, I also haven't skied a Saturday or Sunday since 1996.

Please help: Why are my brand-new skis "peeling" after one use?!?!

I stand corrected. Haven't skied into May for many moons, but maybe the new skis will keep me from slacking this season.

Please help: Why are my brand-new skis "peeling" after one use?!?!

I've decided to take the wait-and-see approach. Sliced off the "string" with a razor blade as suggested. Skied on 'em again on Friday at Widlcat with no issues. If it's a known problem as suggested, I can wait to deal with it at the end of the season. The last thing I want to do approaching...

Please help: Why are my brand-new skis "peeling" after one use?!?!

Hi: After some great help & input from folks on this site about buying new skis, I recently bought a pair of brand new (2009 model) Watea 78 skis from a reputable shop owner I have known for many years. I finally got to try 'em out today--only for a half-day of skiing, a grand total of 9 runs...

The skinny on staying at Jay Peak?

Looking to get away with the wife for a few quiet days mid-March, and I haven't been to Jay Peak in 20 years. Can someone please clue me in to how the town is set up--best options to stay, dining, etc... I know Jay has undergone significant on-site renovations the past year or so, but I find...

New ski recommendations--allowing my '92 Dynastars to retire gracefully

Hi there: First-time poster here hoping for a bit of help in purchasing a new pair of skis/bindings/boots. It is with great regret that I am retiring my circa-1992 200cm Dynastars, original boots, and several-times repaired bindings. The reason I’ve been holding on to them for so long is 1)...
