    The nuclear option

Atomic bomb was one idea for Mount Snow expansion Every time I read about crazy plans people had for using A-bombs back in the day, a part of me wishes at least a few of them were actually implemented. Maybe not *this* one, specifically, but still

    Loon Mountain 11/23/2014

This was my first visit to Loon. In fact, Loon is usually completely off of my radar, since I usually associate it with giant crowds. However, I didn't want to drive all the way up to SR or Wildcat yesterday, so it popped into my head to check out Loon's coverage and I was suitably impressed...

    Greek Peak High Speed Quad?

While procrastinating at work I just navigated to Greek Peak's trail map and saw that they have an Express Quad now? Is that for real? Has anyone here ridden it? Thoughts?

El Niño, Spanish for the Niño

http://www.wired.com/2014/04/el-nino-effects/ Looks like there is a more-than-decent chance of a large El Niño event this year? I've been trying to find any information on how these have historically impact the New England ski season. Other than that the East Coast winter is "warmer and drier"...

    Killington field report 4/13

Despite the pouring rain on 89 this morning, the sky is now clearing above the Canyon and Killington peak. Snow quality is pretty great, though a little wet. Like wet buttah. Really glad I didn't stay home. I might need that sunscreen after all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Burke conditions???

Howdy folks, I haven't seen any Burke trip reports recently, and I wanted to see if anyone has been there in the last week and could report on conditions of the glades (either on or off map)? ~Scott

    Killington 4/21/2013

I was going to go up for the whole weekend, but decided at the last minute to just do Sunday. Pulled in around 9:30 or ten. It was actually quite cold, I ended up not shedding any layers the whole day. Not much really softened up throughout the day. Upper superstar was (for real) a sheet of...

Russian Olympic organizers are making snow a year ahead of time...

Here's one way to hedge against seasonal variability. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/26/sports/olympics/with-weather-concerns-organizers-are-storing-snow-for-winter-olympics-in-sochi-russia.html?ref=snowandsnowstorms&_r=0 Although seeing the massive snowpile at the top of Superstar yesterday...

Has anyone skied on Kastle TX87's or Blizzard Bushwacker

A local shop has a pretty good deal on them (167 cm). I'm looking for a lighter ski for bumps and trees and possibly some East Coast backcountry next year, but also something that can hold an edge on the Cannon Glacier. As an alternative I was looking at the Blizzard Bushwacker, but I am not...

Another Sugarbush report - with fun and injury!

This weekend I met up with some AZ folk at Sugarbush. The snow conditions all weekend were amazing. Snow on Saturday, partly sunny on Sunday, a little bit (okay a lot) of wind on Saturday. Even got to ski a little bit of powder on Saturday, a rarity for me at Cannon. Saturday highlights: got...
