Killington Stairway - how bad is it?

late 60's w a total knee replacement last spring - no biggie at all. when you had to hike down, wore my hiking boots and changed into ski boots at the top of the lift. now ski down and walk up in ski boots. if you want lunch, then as others have said, pack a lunch. was stunned at how good the...

    Winter park for 1/2 day?

we always park (and ski) on the mary jane side. parking was free and easy lift access plus better terrain.

Go to Mount Snow this weekend, it sounds awesome. Killington = Fail.

killington hit it out of the park. event ran smoothly. a very well managed 18,000 (other areas can only dream of 18K). and no way pulling off an event of this magnitude is "fail". if anything k shined big time and this will pay off for years to come. they weren't particularly worried about...

    Fat Lady Thread 2017

stunned by the snow loss this past week but supe skied great today. as would be expected, bumps were smaller & rounder at the open and softened nicely. by days end it was skied down to the base ice in some spots as temps dropped in the afternoon. despite the walk-on walk-off, should be a great...

    Superstar stockpiles!

for folks who haven't seen it, here's my video chronicling the triumph of 1997 (and the agony of defeat in 2007). on memorial weekend '97 supe was top-to-bottom and edge to edge. as someone mentioned (asc's first season) they blew nearly 30ft on superstar and helped by some very favorable...

    Killington 4/16-4/17

they didn't groom supe for monday. soft right at the open. probably the best of the season. leaving them ungroomed for tuesday as well. obviously will groom for the weekend but suspect they'll leave them whenever temps don't dip below freezing overnight.

    The Fall of Winter begins.....

obviously most of the big dogs are still going and k should make it into may, but wonder how this effects some of the little guys (sundown or platty for example) who had maybe 2 1/2 months of season. pretty tough business model to have to make most of your revenue in a couple months.

Windham - Sat. 3/19/16 - Their Last Day

base depths look pretty good on the open terrain. are they closing because there's no demand? they certainly look like could make through easter even if they close mid-week.

    Worst Ski Season Ever?

haven't read the previous 31 pages so forgive me for any repetitions ... started skiing in '74. clearly the worst season i can remember or am aware of. i can mostly speak of killington and when you get 57" or less than 25% of your yearly average of 240" that's catastrophic. the previous...

    ski sundown bumps

report indicates that no trail is bumped. also surprised that they're holding the bump comp on gunbarrel instead of satan's. why the change? had a great time on satan's last spring.

    Anybody been to Killington lately?

skied today - surprisingly good flat & fast conditions. but unless we get a lot of non-wet precip (snow) from tomorrow's event, i wouldn't expect anything ungroomed to be skiable this weekend.

from a retired video professional - kudos. nicely produced & edited.

    Killington Trail Expansion

that's pretty much it. i'm thinking the dreammaker park is also a casualty. late season on supe is also in jeopardy. but yeah there's lot of season left and they've got a lot of terrain they will open. they've had to do 4 or 5 total rebuilds and what do they have - 19 trails to show for it when...

    Catskills snowmaking?

surprised "the snowmaking capitol of the world isn't open yet". skied there most of the 80's until i made the full-time move to k. my recollection is that they usually were able to open on black friday (which was a ski patrol benefit day if i recall). we sometimes (probably rarely) skied the...

    Killington 10/20/15

pretty sure they'd much rather be open to the public to defray the costs of running 2 lifts and opening 2 lodges. clearly they didn't feel comfortable charging peeps for the product and the cluster fck on the trail & half they had open. kudos to them.
