After 2 busy weekends at home we got our second to the last Winter hike for the Catskill 3500 club by doing the Balsam Mountain Loop. A little under 5.5 miles - trail packed and we only needed spikes for the whole trip. Great view of the Catskills looking north. Super easy and fun! Next...

Did Kaaterskill High Peak to Round Top recently. Kaaterskill High Peak is on the 3500+ list and my girlfriend wants to get them all! I'm down.. Easy snowmobile trail that circles both mountains. We hiked over the the trail up the Kaaterskill High Peak. Nice steep scrambles near the top...

I think splitboard skinning is going to be big for me this season. If I forget to make a reservation, I can skin up before opening. I haven't used it a couple of years. Going to replace the binding system. Check the skins out. Maybe even get a new deck! stoked!!!

I did the MS 30 miles around Manhattan ride Sunday. They closed off the West Side Highway and the FDR. It was a blast - I was on my full suspension with nobbies.. :) But I stiffened up the suspension and cranked the tire pressure up and finished the ride in like 3 hours(with a break)...

What an amazing weekend at Hunter.. For real.... There was a killer slope style event going off... Mountain was packed with happy people... The weather was awesome - conditions were sublime.. My band played to a super enthusiastic crowd... The mountain treated us very well for playing...

And they had a blast - because they are friends and not total asshloes... They even had a beer after and talked about the lines they shared.. It happens.. All the time.. :snow:

The lights have been on at the summit of Hunter Mountain for a few days.. Generally means it's time to start snowmaking... My girlfriend lives west of Hunter... It was cool to drive back tonight and see the summit lit up like a beacon.. Made me smile But... it's so freaking warm out...
