    I saw $2,000 a head the other day in SLC. In the most recent month reported, February, United only truly bumped 57 people out of more than 37 million passengers. Delta hasn't bumped a single person in over two years.

    This really doesn’t happen any more. In the wake of the Dr. Dao incident, major airlines decided they would pay whatever it takes to get people to voluntarily give up their seat. For United the cap is now $10,000. They don’t just bump people.

    Aspen is the problem. The runway is too close to mountains so all flights divert or cancel in any sort of weather. The runway is also too small and can only accommodate one aircraft type. In fact every flight into and out of Aspen is operated by the same carrier - SkyWest. They are the only ones...

    Not sure any US ski resort has ever voluntarily recognized a union. They typically force a formal NLRB election. Vail uses the time before an election to force their employees to attend "meetings" to "educate" pre-vote.

    Drilling for blasting? Pretty common purpose (holes for dynamite) The gondola runs every day all summer so not sure it would have been any better on Monday.
