    How would identify yourself?

I hit the hiking re-start button at 58. No worries; No quick step marathons;my partner is slower than me allowing her to observe the natural world ; thus re-focusing my wadering mind and making for pleasurable trips and memories. You have many years ahead of you.

    How would identify yourself?

Day hiker looking for views. Would enjoy getting out the old Tioga for a few days out now and then; busy family life, as many of you have and know.

    Knee Pain and Danskos

side note: the lady at the Walking Co. store had me try on 2 pairs of the same size. She said each pair fits differently and I could tell the difference. Limmers are next on my list; something off the shelf they have.

    Knee Pain and Danskos

I have had some uncomfortable pain in my knee since the Fall. I figured I would wait for my yearly physical to review options with my doc. A few weeks ago I bought a pair of Dansko clogs (I am on my feet most of the work day), the Professional Model, and the pain seems to have diminished. Does...

Mike, I was just reading your post of VFTT about the AMC and Andy F's salary. I was excited about your comments on the work the AMC did for inner city kids because I had the good fortune to meet up with a group from Boston on the trail to Mt. Jackson in the Fall of 2008. The boys and girls were...

curious event... beginner trail, with an instructor, on a flat area, according to reports, and maybe brain dead (hope the news wires are just being their jacked-up selves)....ya got to think of the times you did the slam/bang on trails ( I xc ski, sort of ) and got up and continued on.

    Last Year

Since the thread about 2008 is closed, I will report here. My wife and I hiked 10 4000 footers together after we met back in the late 1970's. She had no experience with this type of hiking and I had little. We had some great times together. Life went on and I used my equipment on family...

    Snowshoeing?

xc is great fun. Yet, once and awhile it is good to just go slow and take it all in.

    Snowshoeing?

bigbob, mine are a modified teardrop design, a Huron type, I think. Got them 30 odd years ago at EMS. Used them over gentle terrain. Wonder if they would work well walking up a mountain. Should have bought a Bearpaw style, someone told me later. I had a tie in - with leather laces - of a steel...

    Snowshoeing?

Broke out my old wooden snowshoes last winter. Like the above say, just get out and walk anywhere. Looking to purchase something "modern" though, for more serious hiking.

    rt.302 gear shop?

Does anyone know the name of the outdoor shop on rt.302, I think. I was in the shop a few months ago. They sold do-it-yourself sewing patterns and materials in the basement with the usual array of hiking equipment on the first floor.
