*Official* Mad River Glen Lift Pass Giveaway (Qty: 2)

I'm in. My boy has been begging me to take him skiing "just to try it". I've been putting it off because I don't ski, and don't really have the money for another hobby.

*DONE* ContourHD Giveaway Thread - Congrats Powhunter

Haven't posted here in a while, but I am SO in thanks to a timely e-mail. My post count sucks, luckily I have seniority on my side (longest tenured member to post thus far...)

    Off Topic: Ice Dam

Sounds a lot like my day... 5 hours total between the shoveling of the low-angle part of the roof on the back of the house and then busting up the ice dam at the end of said roof. Looks like I got to it before it found the underside of my shingles. The ice at the roof edge was a good 6-8"...

"(after a premature handshake on the field with Tom Coughlin)" Both coaches were on the field, the game was over. The stakes were higher and the level of disappointment much greater with an undefeated season on the line in the SuperBowl, and he still managed to walk away with some dignity...

    Brrr!

I'm about 1 mile from the Orange, MA airport where they hit a low of -22 at 7am this morning. Currently -8 at 11am. Is there a difference from -5 to -20? Yes, yes there is. And it's exactly how long you can keep your fingers out of your gloves to hitch the dog to her run. Much more painful...

"Tomlinson stopped short!" No better words were ever spoken during a game of football. When it came time for the little man to take the team on his shoulders and get them back into the game he couldn't get it done. Game over LT, wait 'til next year! That being said: The Patriots vs. Jets...

    1/26 - 27 Storm Discussion Thread

That graphic is a tad conservative as far as central and western MA is concerned. I'm on the border of Worcester and Franklin counties (about 20 minutes east of I-91) and have well over 20" of snow pack. More like 25-30". You can all start the :flame: and the :uzi: now, but at this point I'm...

What are you doing right now?

Just about to get off my backside and head outside to sweep off the rink and refinish the ice surface a few more times before this afternoon's skating party. Also need to dig out the backyard fire pit and get that going so that everyone can stay roasty-toasty.

    1,000th POST!!!

What, don't you talk to him at home? ;) Is he like my son? I swear the doc vaccinated him as an infant with a phonograph needle. Non-stop chatter.

    1,000th POST!!!

And to think I joined a year before yourself and have a post count that is 2.8% the size of yours. Granted there was a long hiatus in there, and I joined back when there was much more more hiking chatter (and political :argue: was allowed).

Sorry, but I don't like him, and it all stems from his whiny rant on the Patriots doing the "Lights Out" dance on the Chargers logo after that AFC win a few years ago. Sorry, you can't have a signature sack dance and not expect someone to use it against you when you get smacked in the mouth in...

I think Belichick got out-coached in a number of areas: 1. The fake-punt muffled by Chung was very un-Patriot-like. Why try and be a team you are not? Just punt it away and stuff them deep like always. 2. The first onside kick. Your defense just stuffed them for 3-and-out. Kick it deep and...

Like I told my 8 year old son: The team that is the most prepared and "wants it more" will always come away with the win. Hats off to the Jets: They wanted it more. The Patriots looked lost, undisciplined, unsure, and overall unprepared from their QB right on down. Kudos to the veteran Alge...

    1/11 - 12 Storm Discussion Thread

I would say AT LEAST that much. I'm about 20 miles southeast of there and have 20" of nice fluffy powder. The throat on the snowblower is 20" high and I was right at the limit until I got to the street where I buried it.

What are you doing right now?

Waiting for the snow to stop so I can go out and clear it off the driveway and the skating rink. BTW, daytime TV sucks!

Somewhere between 16 and 20" of light pow out here in north central Mass. Going snowshoeing with the kids later today, maybe some shoeing at Wachusett or Monadnock tomorrow. Or x-country skiiing at Northfield or Windblown. Decisions, decisions, decisions. :snow:

    Do you smoke?

I hope he decides to.. and succeeds. I've never smoked, not once. Don't ever plan to either - not after watching my grandmother waste away as a vegetable for 4 years in a nursing home after a major stroke took everything but her last breath. The docs said the endless chain of cigarettes was a...

When do you remove snow? Do you wait or take it on a little at a time?

Like Warp, my 9hp Craftsman will handle up to about 2 feet and I don't have very far to throw it so the snow density doesn't matter much unless it gets saturated. At that point nothing but shoveling will clear it. The only time I'll plan to do a pass before the end of the storm is if the...

What are you doing right now?

Just fed the husky and tossed more straw in her insulated dog house - already about 6" on the ground here in north-central Mass. Now chillin' for a few before making my way to bed... :snow:
