    Homewood going (semi?) private

It seems like they're unclear on what they want to do. It's a bummer they're struggling to make $. One of my favorite places I've ever skied. https://www.moonshineink.com/tahoe-news/the-country-club-comes-to-homewood/

    Late players in Quebec?

Had a plan to hit the Quebec City area first week of April. A conflict arose and the trip got pushed to the second week. That loses me Le Massif, which closes on the 9th. I still have Mont-Sainte-Anne and will likely enjoy some non-ski time in Quebec City. What else stays open that late? I...

Bolton Valley during Mass vacation week

This weekend starts the dreaded Mass vacation week, which I normally avoid, but I’d like to ski something next Wednesday and Thursday. Anyone familiar with how hard Bolton gets hit during this week? I’d think it would be a safer bet, but I’ve only skied there one day ever.

Nobody hurt. Not the first time for this lift.

    Who’s been to Argentina?

Looking for info on trips anyone has done. We’re looking for a light hiking trip. I’m currently a bit overwhelmed by the choices but definitely a mountain-based situation, glaciers and the like. We’d originally planned on Chile, but seems a bit COVID restricted. Not bad, but you need a Mobility...

Let me tell you a story about ski pole baskets

Minor PSA and amusing story. At Gunstock a couple of years ago I got on a lift chair alone and rode to the top. When I get off I realize a lifty from the base terminal got on the chair behind me. He approaches and informs me that I may not ski the mountain because one of my ski poles was missing...

    Recent Bolton Valley info?

Going with a few friends to hit BV next week. Lift tix $39 midweek?? Seems crazy. Has anyone been hitting it recently? Any info is appreciated, we've never been. Found a few threads here but nothing this season.

    Apple Watch skiing apps

Got an Apple Watch late last spring so haven’t used it skiing yet. I don’t care about speed or vertical stats but I do want to track the workout itself. Any recommendations for apps? I don’t see a downhill skiing selection in the stock Workout app (could’ve sworn there was one).

    Jan 19/20, 2021, Bretton Woods

Conditions are very good right now. I checked out their summit lodge for the first time recently and it’s very impressive (Jameson and ginger costs >$15 however). We stayed at the Mt Washington, where major expansion and improvements have happened. Guessing that with the new gondola and summit...

    Helmet strap technology

Does your helmet strap look like this? Adjusting these things is way too much of a struggle, IMO. Are there helmets with a different setup? If so, which brand?

Masks that don’t fog your goggles

There’s an old thread or two about goggles not fogging. But what about a mask that doesn’t cause the issue in the first place? This’ll be more of an issue this coming season. Anyone know a decent mask for this? Every one I’ve tried has sucked in the end.

    Gunstock improvements

I don’t think this was posted on the forum but last year but Gunstock hired a new GM for the...

    Bikes sold out during pandemic

I’ve been too slow on everything lately. Was considering getting a couple of bikes for gravel roads and generally screwing around. Sold out everywhere it seems. Bikes, RVs, boats, houses. It’s a seller’s market all over.

    The rise of cheap goggles

Amazon has a tempting selection of ski goggles with decent features. I bought these. LEMEGO Ski Goggles - Frameless... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YBRGLZ1?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share For under $40, I got a pair with 2 lenses (sunny and cloudy) and they’re magnetic. There are arguments against...

Ski area bars and what’s on TV

On any ski day I’m going to stop in the bar for beers. I’m of the opinion that the only thing on those TVs should be ski movies, TGR and the like. Mostly what I see is Weather Channel, cooking shows (seriously?), and sports talk (no thanks). I’d like to be more immersed in the ski vibe when...

    The business of ski resorts

Here’s a vid that breaks down the larger costs of ski areas. Virtually nothing that a typical AZ member doesn’t know but interesting nonetheless. https://youtu.be/vpcUVOjUrKk
