not having enough scratch to afford a fancy 4X4 with winter tires?

    Crown Point Bridge CLOSED

i don't think having big box stores and washing machines is a sign of a vibrant economy while having a tourist-based economy results in an inferior wasteland (rough summary of some of the posts on the thread). walmart jobs and strip malls is not a way to build for the future, but it does make...

Should Vermont secede from the Union?

it's really a no-brainer, imho. and the worries about UVM? i don't see it. with less course offerings getting in the way, all the UVM hippies will have more time to smoke dope and listen to the dead....thereby leading to a huge spike in applicants regardless of the falling "academics"...

NY License Plates Change = More Tickets in VT

except that the current blue and white plates look nothing like vermont's green plates, so there's probably no difference in terms of being out-of-staters..... i like the new plates, but i'll miss the nod to the state's different regions along the top of the border of the current plate:

I'm skiing Sunday River next year. Killington = Fail.

Nazi Nazi just stepped in to remind everyone that the Nazis were really evil people, and using terms like "Spelling Nazi" or "Soup Nazi" makes light of the Nazis and diminishes the suffering of those they harmed, tortured and killed. Major super duper pet peeve of mine!! That is all.

    Random Beers

had the pleasure of trying a bottle of "mort subite" the other day. it's a belgian beer with distinct sour cherry flavors. very interesting, sweet, yet refreshing. mort subite is a lambic beer. wikipedia provides the following: Lambic is a very distinctive type of beer brewed only in the...

    Gore improvements....

tin woodsman managed to turn a thread about someone's excitement over improvements at a ski resort into multiple attacks using SAT words. nice. imo, he's strangely like highwaystar in this thread, only, instead of ranting about against k-mart's owners, he's ranting against fans of gore...

    Getting Busy With Your Instructor

i ski instructed at the skiway during college. students weren't allowed to pay for my services, but some felt the need to give me a tip, anyway. good times. never-evers tended to be the most grateful learners. :spread: :snow:

    Haystack: Return from Nelsap?

is it right that the mountain will only be skiable by property owners? permanently? if so, this "opening" has got to be a ploy to boost sagging real estate values. i tend to think that as soon as the developer makes a decent return, you'll see haystack slowly fade and, eventually, close...
