    The "Sugarbush Thread"

Peered at the web cams today while out and about touring Boston, and saw an absolute zoo. Can't imagine how crowded the trails were. Just seemed like a ton of people everywhere... pond skimming, North Lynx, the plaza, Bravo, everywhere. And then... I saw I believe a Sugarbush sticker on the...

    The "Sugarbush Thread"

The work road goes up Castlerock Runout then turns up Header to go up Lower Lower Jester to Lower Downspout. I know that road well. So even if you could keep CR Connection from Gate House open, there would be no runout. Also expains why everything past Lower OG would be closed... all those...

The TBD ticket was good any day of the season, in addition to another bonus day - either Mardi Gras or after April 1. I used the first half 2 days after the 2' dump a couple weeks ago, and after 7 hours on the hill, I feel like I definitely got my $99's worth. Having a bonus day was just that...

Bummer about the complete shutdown of everything right of Lower OG to CR. I still have a TBD ticket to use and it isn't good until after 4/1. Would have been nice to have MEllen for at least a bonus weekend or two, Regardless, hope the Snowball exposure can hold its own for a few weeks.

Haha... I'm between jobs right now too, and I was able to ride LP on Wednesday and ME on Thursday. I have to say, LP was excellent. Almost rode the entire day (930-330 is pretty close). Warmed up on Gate House, then hit the Bravo side. I was the only one on Domino, and I don't knwo why...

From this afternoon's snow report: So, looks like the Rock opens with the lift tomorrow. Not sure how I feel about the mention of Valley House running instead of Bravo... when it comes to a major lift not operating, people want to know a little more info instead of something like what they...

... And here I thought my yearly trip was going to be nothing but some slushy snowmaking trails. Last year I got lucky with about 20-30" in the past week. Looks like my luck is continuing, as I head up tomorrow to ride Wed and Thu.

The issue with North Lynx is that its the natural progression lift for beginners. They master Pushover and then head up NLx. Most of 'em probably think its going to slow down at the terminals, which it definitely doesn't. And a lot of folks coming off Gate House think its a quad, which it...

Early season pop-up park... there's one on Reason as well. Only the printed trail map has the legend. I was confused too when I first saw it.

This explains why I saw noone in line at the 'Rock (on the web cam) a couple hours ago.... and very few on Bravo/VH. Gate House looked busy, probably cause more "sun" and the late groom.

    Betsy Pratt 3/12/28 - 3/17/23

I remember her from my days working at the golf course at Sugarbush. Didn't get a chance to talk to her much (I'm a boarder after all... haha), but she would pretty much walk the Front 9 daily. Think she got a cart for the back (not many people wouldn't grab one for the back).

Heard some people on the lift complaining about Stein's.... Here's the blog post about it: https://blog.sugarbush.com/mountain/and-now-for-a-gadd-peak-update/ And now for a little trip report... I rode Mt Ellen this past Thursday and Lincoln Peak this past Friday for the first time in a year...

    The Okemo mountain thread

I have no problem with Okemo... their grooming is really good but they do groom like 95% of their open terrain every night. There's not much of a challenge for me, personally, but I have gone from a nearly hundred-day/year season to half a dozen days a season. I do love their intermediate...

I'm finally coming up Thurs and Fri this coming week. Should be good... better than last year!

You'd be correct... in that case, go for the Green Mountain Lounge in the base. The huge deck was expanded a couple years ago and is a great spot especially on a sunny day!

Take Slide Brook over and hit up Walt's at the Glen House... there's a nice outdoor deck there, or the base lodge/Green Mountain Lounge upstairs. Both decks overlook the mountain, unlike Gate House. There are some nice mellow blues over at Ellen too. Rim Run/Panorama is one of my favorites...

    The "Sugarbush Thread"

I did a few "check rides" on Slide Brook during my last full winter of employment up there. That was a cold ride (and sometimes we weren't even above the temp threshhold yet), going from LP to ME. Needless to say, I'd run into the ME lift shack, make my phone calls and warm up for a few...

Never did like working that lift. 1990 detach tech (NRX) vs 1995 detach tech (SBX/SB/GH) is completely different. Granted, two different manufacturers, but still.

Wow... impressive. Looks like they're going to Birdland as well. After that, LP just needs the dreaded HS/Waterfall line.

Its now $49 Thursdays and it starts 1/5. Last year it was $40.83 Thursdays. I still miss the holiday specials of yesteryear, even moreso that I have to pay for tickets now ($5.50 Christmas / $14 Valentines Day / $17 St Patty's / $30 Thursdays).
