    Ski Clubs

Wow! Talk about a lot of generalizations. Every club in EICSL is different, with different dues/fees structures, work requirements and long term financial planning. The statements above may be accurate for some, but are totally inaccurate for others. The best thing is at least familiarize...

    Ski Clubs

There are 2 clubs in EICSL you'd want to contact. Ace Ski & Board and Blitzschnell. There is contact info for both clubs on the website, www.eicsl.org. I'm President of Blitzschnell Ski Club and current VP of EICSL (also trip chair and too many other things). Clark

Anyone know Ski Club/houses near Mount Snow?

A good organization to try to find a club through would be the National Ski Council Federation. It's the national organization for many ski councils which are made up of ski clubs. The website is at www.skifederation.org and there is a page for councils in the East at...

How do you carry your smartphone while skiing?

I can recommend Otterbox protective cases. They have one for that model. http://www.otterbox.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-cases/samsung-galaxy-s3-cases,default,sc.html

    Sit on top kayaks

I think I'd have gone for a sit in. With your weight lower they're more stable in open water and don't get blown around as much. A lot of the ocean kayaks are in the 14' range, but for general use you might have gotten away with something in the 11-12' range, especially if you're lugging it...

Sunshine Ski Resort Fires Ski Patrollers Threads Removed from Internet

I just stuck up a link to the patrol web page on Facebook. Amazing that an over privileged little idiot can do that much damage and that the mountain would over react in such a way as to so severely damage their ski patrol.

    Why are lessons so expensive?

As one of those poorly paid instructors my guess is that we're just a profit center for the mountain. For all of the reasons you mention you'd think that keeping lessons as cheap as possible would be in a mountain's best interest, but there are only so many of us and you really don't want to do...

Ever Forget Something When You've gone Skiing?

Back in my college days I had a Fiat convertible (which my father nick named the red peril). The ski rack sat on the trunk and because the car was so low to the ground the ski tips were actually behind the car. Back then I was skiing on a pair of 207 Kneissl White Stars. I managed to somehow...

    Boston Ski Show 2010

Kind of bizarre. The link at http://www.bewisports.com/expos/boston takes you to the hotel, not the trade center. Clark

Anyone familiar with Rockport MA restaurants?

If you like Italian I can recommend LoGrasso's. It use to be a sub shop/deli that converted into a restaurant 4 nights a week. I believe they now just run as a restaurant. I lived in Gloucester for 25 years and use to go there on a regular basis. LoGrasso's Cafe and Bistro 13 Railroad Avenue...

how sad of a people we have become, UPSTATE NY sad very sad....

I have heard that cattle rustling is still alive and very profitable as your article says. It's still a major problem out West. Clark

    Boston Ski Show 2010

It'll be interesting to see who they get to replace Ski Market. Not sure if you were aware, but EICSL use to run a ski swap at the ski show prior to Ski Market. Clark

Is winter over in the Northeast?

We got a free mid-week pass from Jay when we ran an EICSL trip there in December. I figure I can grab at least another day or 2 there after Wildcat closes. Last I heard I think Wildcat picked up another foot of snow while the rest of us were flooding. Just don't count on much grooming though...

    Adjustable skis

Can't say I can recall trying them in bumps. I bought them as a ski I could take out West and use more as a spring ski around here once I'm done racing for the year. Don't see why you couldn't use them in cruise mode as has been suggested. Clark

    Adjustable skis

I have a pair of 170 Grizzlys and you can definitely feel the difference. If you want to use the aggressive setting the ski will definitely carve an arc, but you have to get it out from under you. I like to use them in soft snow, including some of the mush we had toward the end at Blue Hills...

    Blue Hills MA 02/20/2010

Just thought I'd mention Blue Hills is open again. Even after all this rain I'm sure there is still plenty of snow. It looks to be 5 or 6' deep in places. Probably headed over there on Sunday to either teach or play with a pair of skis I've been having a problem getting tuned to my liking...

The Current State of the P&S Camera Market...

I know what you mean. The 11 came out just a couple of months after I bought my 10, but it seemed like 1 step forward, 2 steps back with the features. I've started doing more clips as well and it was surprising it wasn't HD. Canon is doing strange things with video on a lot of its cameras...

    Tingling Toes

Sorry folks, never realized there were replies to this. For some reason I've stopped getting notifications when there are replies or additions to a thread. I'm convinced this is a pinched nerve. I left the original message back at the beginning of January and it's still a problem. Some days...

    Blue Hills MA 02/20/2010

I asked what happened to the old J-Bar. They said a long gone management brought in a large tow truck to tighten up the cable. He started cranking and started pulling down the towers. He unhooked and drove away. That's all anyone knows. There is a toggle lift that runs about half the way up...
