Resort or Ski Area: Ski Sundown, New Hartford, CT
Conditions: 15*F, wind gusts +20mph, sugary granular snow on top of ice.
Trip Report: Again, low crowds at "the institution." Arrived around 9:15AM and left at 10:45AM. VERY windy and cold but decent snow. A lot of debris on Nor'Easter from the winds: pine cones, pine needles, small branches, and it looks like some larger ones were taken down on the edges by the wind. Still, skied nicely, especially skier's right on Ex where a nice layer of sugar accumulated. Got out in the Nordica Beasts today and my feet were much happier aside from my toes freezing. Ended the morning early because of fears of frostbite, actually; toes hurt A LOT after I got back into the lodge, though they weren't feeling cold other than on the lift rides. Still, GET OUT THERE. Skied right onto the lifts the whole time and the trails were empty. It's cold but if you dress for it, it's a great opportunity to enjoy yourself without a crowd.
