Thomas Jefferson told me to ski Mad River Glen

After being burned by windholds at Whiteface...again, I decided to cut my losses and head to VT to use the two Sugarbush vouchers I'm holding. On my drive to my lodging, The Golden Lion, I drove past MRG. It was about 3 o'clock. There were cars parked on 17 for 1/4 mile up and down the hill. You could feel the electricity in the air, all that pent up powder hunger being satiated. It was the third time I'd driven by MRG and had yet to ski it. The next morning I had intended hitting the Bush, I talked with someone who'd skied MRG the day before. I had suggested that I might hit it after the Bush. He recommended I ski MRG first. I returned to my room after breakfast unsure where to go. I flipped a coin heads MRG, tails SB. Jefferson said MRG, he was right! What an awesome place.

I wish I'd brought my camera. I tried using my phone, but it kept crashing. Why do all cell phone cameras suck? I skied bell to bell, I didn't ski any of the more extreme terrain. No hucking in this old body. I had a blast sking narrow bump trails, Lynx, various glades. I hooked up with someone from CT, Bob, and finished out the last hour or so with him. He knows the place and showed me some spots. It was by far the highpoint of my season. I did't wait in line for the single until two o'clock. I wonder what the wait time was Sunday?

I'm off to ski SB today. If I think I'd rather ski MRG than another day at SB, I'll sell my SB pass. I got them from Boston.com for $44, I would think I could get $60 for it. Looks like I'll be extending my stay in VT, more snow on the way, yeh!:

Thomas Jefferson is a wise man. I think the Golden Lion gives out discount vouchers to MRG.

^ Yes, KingM. He used to give an AZ discount for lodging. I hope he still does.

Wow, just got done skiing Sugarbush, it too was awesome. They got about 4" up top last nigh. It freshened things up nicely. Yes, thanks KingM, I've received the AZ discount, $10, I think. I was however unaware of the discounts at MRG. You mean you. an ski it for under $45 midweek? What a steal!
