Yea, but not at Plattekill. It says on the Pepacton Reservoir near Plattekill. The reservoir is like 8 miles from Platty and is maybe 20 miles long. If the rentals - Kayaks are on the far end of the reservoir thats like 28 miles from Platty. More info is needed.

The NYS DEC is allowing canoes, kayaks and small sail boats onto 3 of the Catskill reservoirs for the first time this summer with certain rules like steam cleaning. Before only rowboats were allowed and only for fishing.

http://www.nyc.gov/html/dep/html/press_releases/12-11pr.shtml

The new program, which the Catskill Watershed Corporation is helping to fund, will add 12,544 acres of public access by allowing temporary and seasonal DEP-issued recreational boating tags issued by certified private steam cleaning vendors for rowboats, canoes, kayaks, sculls and small sailboats with removable center boards. The opening of the new reservoirs will kick off on Memorial Day weekend, and DEP will coordinate with representatives from local communities around the reservoirs to incorporate them into the existing recreational boating steering committee, which consists of state and federal officials and local organizations. A key part of the program will be the selection and construction of new recreational boating launch sites at each reservoir, which will include input from the committee, and identification and certification of steam cleaning vendors in the vicinity of the reservoirs.
