Hurricane Sandy phasing with Low Pressure - Mid Atlantic Monster

Nobody wants a repeat of last October for VT this year. Hurricane Sandy looks to be setting up to phase with a low pressure system coming out of the west and land around Cape May NJ. High winds, 5-12 inches of rain, coastal flooding. Snow in WV/Central PA etc. How does this storm ride further north late next week. I think skiers need to watch this one. Maybe we get lucky and it turns into a good thing with heavy wet base building snow in VT. Anything but massive amounts of rain.

Here in the mid-Atlantic, we don't want to see snow with leaves still on trees. Had enough of relatives staying with us last year with the power out for a week.

If you are in NJ, bring in your outdoor stuff and take whatever precautions you need to secure your stuff from wind and flooding.

Plenty of chatter today about possible snow events somewhere with this one.My generator is ready.Should be interesting.

Hearing the snow will be south - PA, VA and NJ, Then after the storm pulls through it will get cold and the snow guns should get going after Halloween (maybe some real stuff too).

Mid-Atlantic Forecast for Nov 1, 2014: Parts of the central and southern Appalachians will receive their first accumulating snow of the season, including southwestern Pennsylvania, western Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina, eastern Tennessee. The combination of snow and remaining foliage could lead to fallen trees and power lines. According to AccuWeather Chief Meteorologists:
Elliot Abrams, "The highest elevations of West Virginia may receive between 1 and 2 feet of snow."
John Gresiak, "Snow may fall as far south as the mountains of northern Georgia."
