    New Helmet Law - Canada

never skied Nova Scotia. how long before US (NJ already does) adds these laws?

    http://thechronicleherald.ca/novasco...n-your-helmets

The aim of the new legislation is to reduce the number of concussions and traumatic brain injuries sustained on ski hills.
The Snow Sport Helmet Act, passed in the legislature last December, stipulates that alpine skiers and boarders of all ages must wear helmets when at ski areas
    i approve of this:
Ski hill operators and volunteer ski patrol members won’t be responsible for enforcing the regulations.

2012/13 Season - More Snow is More Better!
    Ski Sundown - 12.28 1.16 1.20 2.26 3.29
    Crotched Mountain - 12.30
    Pat's Peak - 12.31
    Mohawk - 1.4 1.18 1.25 1.26 2.1 3.30
    Sugarbush - 1.7 1.8 3.24
    Stowe - 1.9
    Mt Snow - 2.8 2.9 4.9
    Magic - 3.3 3.10

If people want to crack their heads skiing, why not let them? Just like people in some states in US (like here in Colorado) don't have to wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle, it's dangerous, and not a bright idea, but the end choice should be made by the individual.

On the other hand, seeing as Canada passed this law makes a little more sense since they have universal healthcare and the citizens are footing the bill.

Is the law in NJ for everyone or just kids?

In Canada, if you crack your head while skiing, all of the medical cost is covered by free healthcare. Since the population (government) will pay the bill, they have a say in how you live your life.

Not saying it is right or wrong, just the way it is.

There is no such thing as "free healthcare", every Canadian citizen is paying for it.

Of course, and that's why the government can put his big foot in the doorway. The bigger question is once they've gone after helmet-less skiers aren't they going to target smokers and obese people ? It's a slippery slope.
