Yes...Mt. Cranmore immediately after the Blizzard of 1978. My brother and I had a travel pass because our grandmother had passed away during the height of the blizzard. Quick funeral, then that same day we hit the road. Absolutely nobody there but us at first, then a few locals. Absolutely unreal, with the Ledges open for the first time in a long while. I suppose it sounds cold to go blasting off on a ski trip right after Grandma went to her final reward, but how often does an opportunity come where an epic blizzard has just ended and the national guard won't let anyone on the road? The travel pass didn't say where we had to go, it just said we could travel. So we did.

Once it happen to me at camelback in PA. It was very foggy and you really could not see anyone anyway. But every time i got to the bottom there was no one at the lifts. I think all day i saw maybe 4 other people.

if you ski a lot midweek, it's not uncommon to be one of a small handful at non-destination ski areas.

Was heading to K-mart, where I had a pass. About 6" of fresh on the ground. As I got to Whaleback, I couldn't help but think that I would only have 2 hours at K-mart, before it closed, and wondered how much a half day at Whaleback would be. $10!

I was not the only person, but there weren't a lot of us.

Twice, the only customers all day. Once was at the lost Enchanted Mountain, ME, in 1971, a year or two before it closed forever. On a cloudy midweek day in January, my party of 4 was the only customers. Conditions were gorgeous, immaculate packed powder. Obviously the operations weren't the reason the area closed.

The second time was at Saddleback after an awful ice storm. Probably in 1970, back when there weren't instant snow reports (although we could have phoned). My brother and I thought the sleet might have been snow at higher altitudes, so we went to Sugarloaf. It was closed! They told us Saddleback was open, so we went on over there. Saddleback had the bunny slope and two trails off the west-side T-bar open with a crushed-ice surface. We took two very noisy runs and called it a day - didn't like the thought of falling on that stuff.
