Technically Snowshoe in West Virginia is in that "base at the top" group too (4700')Their bottom elevation is 3260'!
King Ridge had a 1500ft base lodge...but that was located at the top of the ski area.![]()

Snowshoe WV base lodge is located above 4800ft.But thats at the top also.So they have the highest base lodge and top elevation in the east...at the same spot.

Snowshoe's markets the village at 4848. I believe that's the "peak elevation", but top of the Widowmaker lift, which is the top elevation for skiing is maybe 50 feet lower than the "peak". The 3260 base elevation is at the base of the Western Territory. The base of the "bowl" / vast majority of Snowshoe's skiing is ~4000 feet.
Not highest top elevation. Both Sugar and Beech in NC have top elevation over 5K. They probably both take the cake for base elevation as well.
