600 set for race to top of Empire State Building

*** People from around the world are taking part in a vertical race — up 86 flights of stairs at the Empire State Building. That's a total of 1,576 steps, starting at the lobby and finishing at the observation deck.
The annual Empire State Building Run-up is being held tonight. ***

10 minutes * 60 seconds = 600 seconds

1567 steps into 600 seconds = 2.6 steps per second (SPS)

I'm sure you just hit every other step. Although the U-turns would get dizzying after a while on the way up.
