I don't understand this new colloquial term.

  • Drive Safe (Oh yeah, I was planning on driving recklessly.)
  • Travel Safe (Kinda don't have a choice, I'm not the pilot)
  • Hike safe (I was planning on tiger wrestling)
  • ski safe (Yep, I'm planning on skiing off Niagara Falls
  • Be safe (sorry, I'm suicidal)
  • There' a hurricane coming. ... Stay safe (like I have a choice?)
  • Have a safe vacation (no, I was planning on coming back in a body cast)

So now I can't have a "fun" or "enjoyable" or "relaxing" activity? It has to be safe instead?

It's almost as bad as "how ya doin'?"

It's a rhetorical question, do you really tell people "how you're doin" when asked? Do you really want to know when asking? Try actually telling someone "how you're doin", and watch them squirm. Oh, and post safe.

I never say "safe travels" to people...
I always say "uneventful travels"...
