There was a time when the oft-overused descriptor 'beefy' could be applied to 32mm stanchion forks. Things have changed quickly, and now 32mm forks are serving duty on highly capable trail bikes and XC race bikes alike. In fact, the Fox Racing Shox 32 Float 140 RL sports travel that, at one time, was considered freeride territory -- without the weight.
We've come a long way since then, and bikes that populate trails now offer ride dynamics and performance levels shared with high-performance motorsports. Features like the 32 Float's optional 15mm thru-axle, and its hollow truss-to-seal flange ensure weight is minimized. Complementing the 32 Float 140's flex-fighting chassis is an easy to adjust and reliable open bath damper. It offers rebound tuning on the upper right leg, and, for efficient climbing, a lockout that's activated via a crown-mounted lever. Preload is changed by adding or removing air from the air spring, that, on average, can weigh up to a pound less then coil sprung counterparts.
