MET Terra Helmet

CAM.jpg

Visors are intended to block the sun, and are a necessity when popping in and out of a canopy at high speeds -- you don't have time to adjust for the quickly changing light conditions. MET's Terra Helmet is equipped with an adjustable visor for just this reason, but they take its propose a step further by incorporating it into the Terra's ventilation.
MET's integration of the visor into the Terra Helmet's air intake system permits better flow for a cooler helmet. And cooling is something MET takes seriously, as they developed a protocol to measures a helmets performance in terms of ventilation. They call it the Air Scale. Simply put, it measures two essential parameters -- the Head Contact Surface (HCS) and Cooling Factor (CF).
The HSC indicates, with a percentage, how much of the head is in contact with the helmet. This lets them design the HSC so it's at a minimum, in this case 65%. This helps the Terra decrease heat buildup and gives it a CF of 6.5 out of ten. For comparisons sake, MET's XC helmets average 7.5-8.5 on this scale, and because of the need for more protection, this helmet's fuller coverage causes it to be slightly warmer.
To assist the 21 vents and 360 degrees of ventilation, anti-allergentic interior pads encouraging rapid evaporation of perspiration for excellent comfort. The pads aren't for impact protection, however, that's left to the Integral-In-Molding construction. In-molding means the shell and outer are bonded during the manufacturing process. The shock resistant shell is fused to the impact absorbing EPS foam inside.
Keeping the Terra in place and snug over rough terrain is the Safe-T Twist 2 click-wheel fit system. It features one handed dial adjustment that's perfect for on-the-fly adjustments even with gloves on. The Terra's pads are washable and easy to remove. MET equips the Terra Helmet with reflective elements for low light safety. It comes in either Medium or Large, and four colors; Matte White, Matte Red, Matte Black, and Camo Black.
