"There's a lot more to this than a crazy person jumping," Ogwyn told The Telegraph. "It will be very well executed, it's like a shuttle mission in some ways. This is something I dreamed about as a little kid." The event will be broadcasted live by The Discovery Channel, which is quickly earning its title as the daredevil's network of choice, having broadcasted Felix Baumgartner's space jump and Nik Wallenda's tightrope walk across the Grand Canyon.

Pretty awesome. And crazy. The wingsuit guys ... are nuts.

The wingsuit guys ... are nuts.

To be more precise, most wingsuit guys are benign. They just exit a plane at 12-14,000 feet like normal skydivers, fly around in wide open sky with a few friends (or more) and deploy parachute at safe altitude of 3000 ft. For most average skydivers, it can be done safely with a little additional training, although the suits are pretty expensive comparing to the normal jumpsuit. It is something I would do without hesitation if there is an opportunity to do so. It is a small portion of wingsut guys which participate in this kind of flight called "proximity flying" and yes they are nuts.

You can do pretty crazy stuff with skies too, but most skiers are pretty benign.
