Diadora's new Aerospeed 2 Shoes combine the Italian footwear developer's innovative designs with an affordable price. Many of the features found in its top shoe offerings have trickled down in recent years, providing you with supportive and advanced features wrapped into the new Aerospeed 2 package. It's something that'll make both you and your wallet happy.
Diadora built the Aerospeed 2 Shoes around its Regular Plus last. This last shape forms precisely to your foot, combining just the right amount of arch support with forefoot and midfoot hold, but provides a slightly larger toe box than the Race Shape last. Additionally, this design lends itself to securing heel retention as well. This comfortable cradle on the foot is achieved using Diadora's Suprell-Tech and Morpho Cage design. Essentially, this is a leather/polyurethane and lightweight mesh 'space frame' construction that's been designed to support pedaling motions with its ultra-stable and breathable composition. At the heel cup, Diadora designed the Aerospeed 2 to perfectly contain the rider's foot in its seat by armoring the delicate Achilles tendon with a two-part composition. For structural rigidity, the pre-molded thermoplastic polyurethane heel cup uses a firm composite around the back, with softer and more flexible plastics along the sides.
The closure system incorporates two separate straps that each performs specific retention functions. Across the forefoot, Diadora added its V-Fit hook-and-loop strap that allows you to easily control the volume over the forefoot. Moving up from that, Diadora added its reliable Four Points buckle closure and V-Fit strap. This durable buckle was manufactured with an aluminum chassis and a large release button that's attached to a strap with four different adjustment positions. Combined with the lower strap, this EVA-backed top strap provides you with the ultimate customizable retention and support.
Diadora chose to mate the Aerospeed 2 upper to its Sport Road sole. This nylon/glass platform keeps stack height and weight to a minimum, while maintaining a high level of rigidity for a direct transmission of power to the pedals. The heel pad is made of a firm replaceable rubber compound known as Duratech, which provides excellent surface grip and high abrasion resistance.
