SRAM DoubleTap Hoods with Supercork Tape

RD.jpg

While Black tape and black hoods on clearcoated carbon shift levers and clearcoated carbon handlebars is easy and utilitarian, it's a bit of a cop-out. Sure, it matches, but it lacks true style. Getting some color on the bike cockpit says 'custom' and generally looks good. SRAM offers a package with both DoubleTap brake hoods and Supercork handlebar tape to snazz up any SRAM-equipped ride.
As much as we say this is about style, there is a practical aspect to different color hoods and tape. The main bike gets one color while the spare gets another. Team cars in race caravans often carry bikes with different bar tape so the mechanics can easily tell the difference between the spares and the main. In cyclocross, racers often have different hoods on each bike so they can easily spot which is which for pitting.
The Supercork tape is a traditional cork tape with 3M adhesive backing. Two rolls, two endcaps, and two strips of finishing tape come in the package. The tape is a single color with a slightly darker hue showing the SRAM logo running down the middle. The tape kit is mated with two Doubletap brake hoods. The red hoods (goes great with the Red group) come with Red tape and White hoods come with White tape. Removal/installation of the hoods has a degree of difficulty equal to (or perhaps less than) installing the bar tape. It's a snap.
Note: The hoods are only compatible with SRAM Apex, Rival, Force and RED Generation 1.
