I posted something a while ago about hunters on skis, but this was new to me.

Pretty wild. Ski down and catch up to / rope up an elk. I'm sure even local hunter VDK03 would find this impressive.

“They get the lasso around the antlers and set perpendicular to the line. The elk gets pissed off and jerks left and right — like the ‘Old Man and the Sea’ — and the elk wears itself out. The skier gets dragged along for an hour or more,” National Geographic writer Mark Jenkins said. “It’s pretty damn crazy. It’s so impressive.” f

On the contrary, evolution at its finest! Only the strong, and the crafty, survive.

Try to find the original article in the National Geographic magazine, it was amazing. IIRC, it said these people were the earliest known skiers, before the Scandinavians.

Yes, and "evolution" has provided us with the .308, .30-06, and 12 gauge slug shooting shotgun.

In 2014, it's just dumb!

So by benedicts reasoning, noone should ski as 4x4 vehicles exist.

Why would one expell effort to go fast downhill on snow, there are Escalades that can do that.

one can argue in 2014 hunting and skiing for that matter just as dumb. Those places is not New Jersey.... people CHOOSE to live there and choose to live that lifestyle.
