Another piece of advice - if you get a private lesson, make sure it is not a teenager. Get an older adult with lots of experience. They will have you child up and running in no time flat. I was talking about our son who started at 2.5 and at 3.5 got private lessons three days in a row and our son was cranking. The instructor was in his late thirties and had been an instructor for twenty years.
