I am trying to convince my wife on a ski trip this winter instead of heading to Aruba. I'm looking for a great location that has awesome food options, night life, and plenty of shops/spa activities for her. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure I am fighting a uphill battle here, but I want to at least present my options to try and get her from shaking her head no to yes, and I figured this might be the best place to get some great advice on areas to go.

You just got back from Hawaii and went to Aruba recently too. You need to grow some balls Dana if you don't get your pick this time. ;)

Take her to Breck, Vail or Aspen. All great locations to be in winter if someone isn't skiing. Just turn off your Credit Card before you go.....

I hear jay peak has a water park..

I went to tahoe as part of my honeymoon(thanksgiving week and there was only manmade open) and we loved it. Only skied one day out of three. We stayed north shore and there was some shops and restaurants along with nice spas. Ive also been to south tahoe at the base of heavenly and that is a more hopping town. Just bigger in all words.. Numerous hotel , restaurants, casinos and alot of shopping. Good time on both sides of the lake but north is alot quieter.

LOL on Abubob's post.

The short answer is Aspen.
But to play along with Abubob's theme here is where I am staying in CO with my wife in March:

Here is where I am staying in CO by myself in Feb:

There will be a couple grand difference in the room fee:oops:, but that's ok because she's worth it.

I wouldn't commit to CO just yet. We have gotten like 1 inch of snow in the last 3 weeks and there is still a lot of uncertainty around how El Niño will affect us. History speaking it makes for a bad-to-average snow year.

I've been all over Europe, South America, North America, and to all the major Hawaiian islands (Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and the big Island). In Kauai the surf was up and I hit the waves every day with a local surf bum.

That being said, last year I spent 10 days in Utah and it was far and away the best vacation I've ever had. Day 2 of the trip we hit Snowbird and by the end of the day my face hurt from smiling so much. We didn't even stop for lunch that day because the adrenaline and endorphins had us on such a high that it was 4pm before we knew it.

Maybe this story will help? Ski vacation >> Hawaii vacation >> Aruba in my opinion.

Aruba in the best month of the ski season. That's crazy. I would suggest a slopeside at one of the greater Conway areas. There is great shopping (outlet stores) and lots of nice food establishments in a top notch ski town. While you're out skiing, she has the car. If you stay at Attitash, the lift ticket (I think) is interchangeable with Wildcat, so you meet her for lunch and have her drop you off at Wildcat for the afternoon.

I am going to Tortola next month with the wife. This will be the first time in 7 years I will not make it out west which is killing me. I'm holding out hope I can sneak in a long weekend in UT or CO at some point later in the season.

I don't go anyway warm in the winter. Put your foot down.

My wife has been trying to get us somewhere warm during February break and to this day my boys and I have bucked the idea. However, this coming February break I will be attending a conference in Orlando, so her and my son will be headed down there with me during the week so we do not miss skiing on the weekend! Best of both worlds - she gets some warm weather and I do not miss out on skiing!
