The are some sand piles at the end of my parents street that have been there since I was a kid. I used to ride my bike down them. They're still there, but they haven't been accessed in many years. There are trees growing on them now where they used to be bald.
Regardless, I figured the prodigious snowfall in Southern NH was the perfect opportunity to ski them. They're maybe 50 feet of vert, which is perfect since I don't have AT gear.
The hike up wasn't that bad. There were some tracks from kids sledding, but not after the most recent snowfall, so I followed those and the snow was only knee deep. When I ventured off those, it got close to my hips, and I'm 6 feet tall.
I was conservative on my first run and went off the backside that wasn't as steep. I ended up straight lining it, and still slowed to a stop at the bottom. I chose some steeper lines next and had a few powder turns. Four runs in all. Nothing epic, but still better than laying in bed all morning.
