i think this has come up before...

can we do anything to improve the picture upload process?

i use a PC most of the time. i can add pictures as an attachment directly to a message and they show up twice in the posting... but after time days/weeks/months they tend to disappear and we're left with an icon showing broken image. the other way is to upload them to my personal album (they get a AZ watermark, which is fine with me) and then i can link to them and they show up great but this is too much effort... i'm lazy by nature but seriously, there has to be a better way.. it makes posting pics a pain and sometimes not worth it.

While we're at it, can we increase the maximum number of pics you can post to more than 5? Like maybe 10 or so?

I hadn't noticed that the attachment pictures eventually go away. I'll have to go back to using the long drawn out gallery process. Usually once I upload a skiing photo to AZ, I delete it from my camera/phone/cpu wherever it's originally located.

I've never noticed attachment pictures disappearing. I just checked mine and I still have attachments dating back to 2006, from when I was testing out the attachment function after switching to vBulletin.

That said, it would be nice to have a better process, that allowed you to put them directly into the gallery.

here is a not perfect example., post #2

http://forums.alpinezone.com/showthread.php/135150-Mount-Snow-1-27-15?highlight=

the "attachment" is there but the broken picture icon is there too (where it used to show the pic twice).

Weird.. How did you insert the picture into the post after you attached it?

The reason I ask is because the tags are different than how it comes out when I do it

Your post:

attachment.php

Mine:

View attachment 15831

It seems like my way also gets rid of the double picture too...

Is your attachment still listed in your control panel?

i just click the "insert image" icon on the tool bar
from computer
choose file
upload

yes, it still shows in my control panel

interesting.. the broken link is http://forums.alpinezone.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15199&stc=1
but the attachment is

http://forums.alpinezone.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15198&stc=1&d=1422423148

1 id is 15199 and the other (working) is 15198

inserting a pic:
attachment.php

Interesting??

Here's how I do it:

-Instead of using "Insert Image", I use the attachment manager:

attachment manage.JPG

or

attachment manage2.JPG

-From the resulting dialog box click on "Add Files" from the upper right:

attachment addfiles.JPG

-Choose your file from the open file dialog and click on Upload.

-When complete the file will be added to the bottom row.

-Press the "Insert Inline" button to put the image in your post:

insert inline.JPG

fire-jpg--8-.jpg

I'm not sure what kind of weirdness is happening with the URLs using "Insert Picture", but it seems like something is a little screwed up...

I'm also using Chrome. When you clicked on the "Insert Inline" button was the picture you're trying to insert checked (and highlighted), so that the button said "Insert Inline (1)"?

Maybe it's a difference in the editor you're using? I'm using the Standard Editor, not the WYSIWYG or Basic:
