Assos LS.skinFoil_Winter Base Layer

BK.jpg

As with the other six base layers in Assos' new skinFoil line, the LS.skinFoil_Winter Base Layer has abandoned the pricey, multiple pre-shaped panels of the past. Instead, the Swiss apparel guru went the route of a less expensive, less restrictive, and more comfortable tubular construction. What this really means is that with the new skinFoil yarns, the LS.skinFoil_Winter Base Layer ensures that you'll remain comfortable and dry this winter season.
Assos' new skinFoil yarns are integral to the functionality of the LS.skinFoil_Winter base layer. This material is a proprietary blend of polypropylene and polyester. Polypropylene and polyester are both polymers, meaning that they're both essentially plastics. However, where they differ is that polypropylene is hydrophobic to the point that it's unable to absorb water. And, as a result, it spreads moisture out over a larger surface area, which rapidly accelerates evaporation. So, in short, these fibers ensure that your torso and arms will remain dry. And when combined, the two fibers provide you with the ideal interface for interaction with either your jersey or jacket.
Additionally, this yarn blend forms a highly-elastic material that creates a push-pull effect in order to hold your muscles in place as you ride. The fabric is also antistatic and antibacterial, and it's also been dermatologically tested and approved. This means that you'll remain comfortable, fresh, and, most importantly, dry underneath all of your outer layers.
For this new collection of base layers, Assos decided to forgo any pre-shaped paneling designs in favor of a seamless, tubular construction. The reasoning behind this is that you receive a pleasing, non-restrictive level of fit. The fabric matrix is also spun, much like a sock, versus the standard flatbed knit technology. And compared to even a flatlock construction, this tubular method better wraps and supports your torso. However, just because skinFoil has abandoned Assos' hallmark of multi-panel patterns, it doesn't mean that it's abandoned Assos' AEPD ideology. In fact, you'll find that Assos has expanded on this through the incorporation of "bodyMap." Essentially, this takes the next-to-skin riding position of AEPD (advanced ergonomic pattern design) and increases its freedom of movement and low volume by varying the material thickness, structure, and elasticity around the body. This way, Assos guarantees a purposeful fit that feels nearly custom to your body.
The Assos LS.skinFoil_Winter Base Layer is available in the color Black and in the sizes 0 (XX-Small/X-Small), I (Small/Medium), II (Large/X-Large), and III (XX-Large/TIR). If you're familiar with Assos' ALS Climarange, this base layer falls into Winter 6. However, if you're not fluent in Assos, it means that it's appropriate for temperatures ranging from around 20 to 35 degrees Fahrenheit.
