Campagnolo Comp Ultra Over-Torque Crankset

ONECOL.jpg

Weve heard it said that Campagnolos Record crankset lineup represents a variety of takes on absolute perfection, and were inclined to agree. From the sleek, yet purposeful, crankarms to the refined chainrings that shift as smoothly as a hot knife cuts through warm butter, its arguable that theres simply no room for improvement. However, it wouldnt be very Campy to leave well enough alone, which is why the Italian masterminds have added the Comp Ultra Over-Torque Crankset to the storied lineup. With a 30mm-diameter spindle, this crankset is designed to match perfectly with the new generation of oversized bottom brackets, all in that unmistakable Italian style. The significant weight savings is just the cherry on top.
As previously mentioned, there simply wasnt much room to improve on the existing Record crankset. Accordingly, youll notice that the beautifully sculpted crankarms look identical to their siblings. This isnt a coincidence, because nothing, save the spindle interface, has changed. The same goes for the XPSS (eXtreme Performance Shifting System) equipped chainrings, which take full advantage of relocated ramps and pins to produce some of the fastest gear changes weve yet experienced.
Where the difference lies, of course, is in the use of an oversized, one-piece 30mm spindle. You may be surprised to learn that while the spindle has grown, thanks to extensive lightening, the weight has been reduced, and by a significant margin. Think roughly 50 grams, although the exact figure varies by configuration. Perhaps less surprisingly, theyre stiffer than the already rigid Record Ultra Torque crankset. In case youre wondering how to improve on perfection, well, this is it.
The Over-Torque standard, while optimized for oversized bottom brackets, is also backward compatible with a standard English BSA bottom bracket shell, through the use of the correct adapter. Although, because the adapters are heavier than the press-fit bottom bracket options, much of the weight savings will be negated. Its optimized for use with BB30, PressFit BB30 (PF30), and BB386 EVO frames. Please note: This crankset does not include a bottom bracket. Please make sure to order the correct bottom bracket to match your frame.
The Campagnolo Comp Ultra Over-Torque Crankset is available with either compact (50/34) or standard (53/39) chainrings, with crankarm lengths of 170mm, 172.5mm, or 175mm, and in the color Carbon.
