De Marchi Contour Plus 3L Stealth Women's Jacket

BK.jpg

What would you say if we told you that there was a jacket that provided ample protection from 32 to 59 degrees Fahrenheit, only it looked and felt like a long sleeve jersey? Well, you didn't have to be that harsh. However, this jacket does exist, and its called the De Marchi Contour Plus 3L Stealth Women's Jacket. By using sophisticated fabrics and a revolutionary, women's-specific cut, De Marchi was able to provide warmth at a minimal weight. More importantly, though, the Stealth feels just how its name sounds, like it's not even there.
De Marchi created the jacket around a combination of the Thermashield and Thermolite Roubaix fabrics. At the front of the body, and at the sleeves, De Marchi placed the Thermashield material for its windproof and water-resistant characteristics. Meanwhile, the back of the jacket features the Thermolite Roubaix fabric for its high-loft, brushed interior finish, and its malleable, four-way stretch. But, you might be wondering, why the juxtaposition? Well, within the cycling position, wind is typically greeted by the front of the torso, thus the windproof protection. Additionally, the back is typically a point of deposit for moisture and a point of exhaust for excess core heat. That's why the back's material has a high pile that wicks moisture away from the skin and sends to the surface of the fabric for rapid evaporation. As a result of this combination, you remain dry, protected, and thus warm, all without the incorporation of bulky materials. And just for added piece of mind, De Marchi also treated the outward-facing sides of both of these fabrics a protective Teflon application, which shields you from wheel-spray or rogue mud stains.
The 'Stealth' nomenclature in the jacket's title is something of a re-naming convention, due to the jacket's impressive 300 gram overall weight (size Medium) and numerous upgrades from previous 'Race' iterations. Make no mistake, though, with its intelligent and top-performing fabric blend and superlative Contour fit, this is very much a race-ready jacket. As with all of their Contour apparel items, De Marchi gives this a anatomically paneled cut. Accordingly, it bends naturally with your arms and torso as you reach for the drops to explore your mid-winter flexibility. It has a full-length zipper with a draft shield built in behind it. This ensures that you won't get a chill through the zipper, and it makes one-handed adjustment easy and snag-free. There's a zipper dock at the top to ensure that you won't get pinched. And when you're charging into a headwind, the 5cm collar is tall enough to seal out the chill.
For storage of your ride essentials, De Marchi included three ample sized rear pockets.
The De Marchi Contour Plus 3L Stealth Women's Jacket is available in four sizes from Small to X-Large and in the colors Black and White.
